One of our fave elements in decorating our home, has always been the unexpected juxtapositions you can put together with different finds. With elements from different eras, various styles, and contrasting ideas it’s kind of wonderful to make a statement in each room with something that tells a story. There are a lot of elements that come together to make the perfect space, from function to form. And everything in between. The elements that create interest and conversation and feel oh so welcoming in ways we weren’t quite expecting, are what make a room so unique.
One of our very favorite ways to do this, is with one usually-forgotten element: the lighting in a room. People sometimes save it for last, without making it just as important as the rest of the space. Don’t get us wrong. We get it. Rooms are always give and take, because real life constraints, and budgets and waiting for what you really want… {Hello… we’re there right now}. But sometimes, that crowning touch is forgotten all together. Lighting immediately warms a space, but even more than that, can bring some serious bling and character to that forgotten fifth wall. Like the crowning touch of the perfect accessory to a great outfit, chandeliers have always been our favorite element to complete the look in beautiful ways.
Even something as ho-hum as the ever-dreaded laundry room can become a place you want to spend time in.
Now if only it magically did my laundry… {Seriously. Why isn’t there a folding mechanism on the dryer? Isn’t there some mad scientist working on that somewhere? It’s 2016, y’all}
So when we laid our eyes on the craftsmanship behind Sogni Di Cristallo… we immediately fell in love. We couldn’t help ourselves. Hello venetian lighting {see: major eye candy!}
This video makes us giddy in shameless, dorks-with-chillbumps kind of way. I could watch the art of glass making all day, but the craftsmanship behind it is something to give you chills. There’s just something about watching people perform an unbridled art with their God-given talent… that makes us a little teary-eyed. You have got to see this video. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Stop and watch. So amazing. Also, someone take me to the opera.
These craftsmen make their creations in the original home of Venetian glass – Italy. I know this is probably my dumb ‘murica way of summing it up… but Italy has always been at the top of my list for places to visit. The food. The art. The history. The inspiration… The shoes. I mean… seriously. And when I laid eyes on their gorgeous work and show space, basically they should know we volunteer as tribute. Or tourists. Or light collectors. Whatever sounds more important. We want to visit and this is at the top of our list. And then bring home an awesome piece as a souvenir.
No word on that yet, but just know… the offer is out there, guys. In the meantime… all the glorious handcrafted eye candy.
Since we’re at the beginning of an entire house overhaul, we have our eyes on all the possibilities that come with rehabbing a home and all the endless inspiration.
Some of this amazing Murano glass a-la their various collections really get our bulbs burning. Yes. I just wrote that. No, I can’t stop. Shhhhh. There’s something absolutely classic about their pieces, and we decided to round up a few of our favorites for a little inspiration to get us started in the oh-my-goodness-didyou-see-that-inspiration, category.

Apparently you don’t have to visit Italy to shop with them… {Shhhh don’t tell Jamin. I’m still working on him.} But we’re amazed at the wide variety they have to suit just about any style, from classic to rustic, to vintage and absolutely gorgeous-over-the-top. The thing about these pieces, is that they’re so classic, the trends come and go… but these are one of a kind created beauties that withstand the tests of time.
Some of these pieces look like they’re pulled right out of a Van Gogh painting. Can I swoon harder? There’s something there for everyone, and now that I’ve written this post, Emerson has chosen about five pieces for her new space. In pink, of course. Cue the cartwheels because she’s already planned out her entire space design. Think mermaids in Murano.

One of my favorite places in the world is the Hemingway house in key west. The house itself has traditional minimal lines but inside is a wonderment of Venetian glass chandeliers! It’s a surprise (kind of like hemingways writings)
I visited the Hemingway House in college and unfortunately don’t remember much – now I want to go again! And really just visit the Keys! HA! I’m off to google images! LOVE.
