The pollen bomb has begun to thin and it’s already given way to the pre-summer heat here {in the tropics of South Alabama}.
It’s so hot, that Rigby wants nothing to do with it. She waits patiently by the door until someone takes pity on her. She blames it on her fluffiness. {We all know it’s because she’s spoiled rotten.}
It gets so hot here, that unless you own a pool in your backyard {and we’ve been known to shamelessly purchase the blow up kiddo variety for a season and use it until the water turns green} it’s hard to make it through the heat.
It’s no joke and something we have to take seriously with three kiddos and their backyard shenanigans. Getting them out the door for a little outdoor time in the summers, and then keeping them safe when the heat is so ridiculously sweltering, is a challenge.
Channeling my inner grandma: When I was a kid, we played outside all day long. They even sent me to Bible camp for a week. And there was no air conditioning in sight. By the third day, the weaker kids started dropping like flies. I grew up acclimated to it all, and I swear it wasn’t as hot as it is now. Is it global warming {did Al Gore invent that?} or are we all just sissies? I’ll go for the latter.
If you’ve been reading for a while, you may know it’s no secret that we love Arctic Cove. It’s become our solution to dealing with the outdoor heat for our second summer in a row now.
They actually have lots of awesome products to help you keep cool, from water bottles with misting capabilities {perfect for those amusement park visits} to a full on polar party. I even use their cooling towels after a good run when I think I might die.
But today, we thought we’d show you a few of our very faves.
First up: The Cool Cave Misting Kit. It’s a cordless misting kit that you can set up just about anywhere, in mere minutes. We hooked it up to a good old fashioned Home Depot bucket, and actually loop ours around our trampoline for a bit of fun in the sun.
The kids love it for hours of keeping cool and the only element we have to worry about is the sunscreen.
Did we mention it runs on the Ryobi Batteries? So if you have any of their tools, just plug in one of their 18-volt batteries {it comes with one anyway, but they’re interchangeable} for an instant cooling party.
I asked them to strike a pose. See that super model on the left? We. Are. In. Trouble.
Next up: The Bucket Top Misting Fan.
Need some cooling at a party or on the sidelines for that latest game? It’s perfect.
The hideaway has it’s own little air conditioning unit for quiet afternoons.
The kids love it so much, they ask us to plug it in.
Even these furry little party crashers are pretty crazy about it.
It can be used as a regular fan {again, cordless, so it’s super convenient to carry anywhere} or as a mister and a fan, when it’s propped on top of a good old fashioned Home Depot bucket.
Seriously. Brilliant.
And our very favorite? The Polar Party.Â
It’s a music, misting, and light tower.
We have it sitting on our porch with the mister to keep us cool in the afternoons, and when it gets darker, it even has a light {with a dimmer + bugs not attracted to it = winning}.
But the very best part? It has bluetooth capabilities, and a pretty awesome speaker to play your favorite tunes, right from your phone.

OMG! I need the Pool Party in my life! Hubs built a killer deck last summer and we literally just said last weekend that we need a mister for out there. We live in the tropics, too – in Georgia (hey, we’re neighbors!) and it is H-O-T! We have a cozy outdoor space but dang that heat’ll kill ya! Thanks for the opportunity! Happy Summer!!

W00T! I liked them on Instagram! This sounds amazing–why have I never heard of them before? I’m always the person who stays inside in the air-conditioning because my body has a hard time regulating the heat. If we had one of these, I could play outside with my daughter on the hottest of days!
