So we’re pretty thrilled to wrap up a project today, and share it with all of you in this fun kitchen reveal! Once upon a time, this sweet family of five was ready to give their original kitchen in their home, a much-needed update. It wasn’t serving them well, and they knew that it was basically time for a total overhaul.
And we were more than happy to assist.
We’re pretty sure that beyond an initial paint job, the original kitchen hadn’t really been touched since 1970 something.
{And if you’ve been around for a while, then you know this is our very favorite kind of project.}
This space initially held a small half bath, and a dining room, as well. There was also a larger utility closet in the back of the space. {More on that below}. Walls were knocked back, and doorways moved, and bathrooms relocated to create a larger, more inviting space.
The once-enclosed dining room is now wide open for family and friends to gather.
These sweet clients now have plenty of cabinetry at their disposal, for all thing storage and food.
Since they did not have a pantry to use, floor to ceiling cabinetry was a great, practical substitute. We love that it gives them plenty of space.
Once upon a time, their main kitchen area looked like this.
Byyyeeee, Soffits.
Hello, wide open spaces.
The dining room once made them feel pretty cut off from their kitchen. By relocating the half bath {they had extra space in their playroom area, so they rebuilt it there} and knocking those walls back, the entire room now feels all-inclusive.
Because they lost that initial wall, the fridge was moved to beside the oven, and the door to their playroom was moved down a smidge.
Now when they entertain, adults can have their own space, and kiddos can have theirs. It’s crazy what a little bit of tweaking and a whole lot of elbow grease can do.
We love their fun glass cabinets!
Because they now have so much storage at their disposal, they have room to display the pretty things.
And of course, that gorgeous backsplash from Jeffrey Court. {The direct link is below.}
As you can probably tell, this family decided to change all of their flooring to these hardwoods, which made a huge change in the entire feel of their home.
It runs on the entire bottom floor, and we love their wide planked feel. And there’s just something about a natural stone in the kitchen. Quartzite was their choice and we are here for it.
This was once the laundry/pantry area, and they relocated their washer and dryer upstairs with the bedrooms.
Which honestly, just makes more sense.
This allowed room for a much needed bar area.
You know we’re always game for some colorful glasses – we love the way these are displayed here.
It’s just a great space for all their needs.
And that hood/viking range combo… isn’t it just swoon-worthy?
We adore it all.
Every time we take on a new kitchen, I’m ready to change ours.
Hazards of the job, I guess.
One more view of that fabulous before and after!
We think it turned out just oh so great.
Changing that wall made so much of a difference!
Features we love:
Blinds
They brought in some beautiful natural elements, and a little privacy with Select Blinds.
This huge picture window is really a focal point in their entire space, and we love the way that their blinds brought in so much for the window. They now have such a cozy coffee area on slower mornings.
Lighting
Of course you know we absolutely love Kichler Lighting. One of the elements we’re most smitten with, are the under cabinet lighting components.
Did you know that Kichler Lighting offers under cabinet lighting on a piece of tape? It’s literally concealed underneath, and offers so much ambience on a dimmer switch, especially at night. It’s something that we always recommend to clients, for that very reason.
Here’s a quick photo of it, underneath their kitchen hood, here.
And now that you can see it underneath that hood, here it is in action.
These photos barely represent their capabilities, but we love the added elements that they bring to the space.
They also added plenty of lighting with their downlights, which are a must have for any room.
Layering lighting is key, and this kitchen definitely accomplished that.
Their sconces really brought the space together, and we loved adding them to the walls.
Combined with the Everly pendants, they really completed the entire look, along with a matching mini pendant for their bar area.
Another glimpse of the under cabinet lighting in action.
Sinks +Faucets
We combined the fabulous farmhouse sink from Elkay, with their awesome kitchen Faucet, for lots of versatile hardworking fun.
They also used Elkay for the adorable bar sink + faucet combo, as seen here. It’s oh so handy for a quick coffee in the morning, or concocting a night time drink.
Their Pot filler is absolutely gorgeous over that range, and we loved adding that to their space for something oh so handy when in the middle of cooking!
Elkay faucets and sinks are solid and dependable, so there are no nasty surprises later.
We loved mixing chromes with black for all things finishes in this room, and the space is just so great in all their great pieces.
Tile:
Of course we love all things Jeffrey Court.
The main subway tile is known as Cotton Blossom, for a glimmering, handmade finish.
The Bar tile in Helena Springs brought in some great accents.
Hardware:
The hardware added a fun modern edge, to contrast with the softer features.
We love D. Lawless for all things hardware sources.

LOVE this kitchen. We’re looking to do something very similar. Do you have the countertop and floor details? Please! <3

Hi! The countertops are Quartzite – I cannot recall the exact name so I will have to look. The floors were a custom pick, done locally. ;} Thank you.

Love this look! Thanks for the inspiration!! You mentioned Alabaster as the paint color. Is that the wall color? If you don’t mind sharing, what color are the cabinets?
