Since school is starting up again, all of the parents and kiddos are on our hearts and minds for a good, safe year. And we wanted to include a little something for those of you sending you littles back.
Growing up, my mom always put little notes in my lunch box – something that really worked in the land of encouragement in that middle of the day moment when I opened up my lunch.
I guess my love language is words of encouragement {writer = go figure} so it means a lot, and it may to your kids, too.
And when our own kids were in school, I loved doing the same. Even in preschool, I was sliding in little notes to make them smile. It meant more, the older they got. You never know when they’re having a bad day, and that little note can mean a lot.
I know, being realistic, there will come a day when they won’t want those in their lunch. There will be a big fat MOOOOOOOMMMMM {Cue the giant eye roll}. I’ll have to reel it in, I’m sure. But I’ll probably be the one hiding them anyway, and then stuffing them in their socks for college until they leave the house.
So today, I thought I’d share these little alphabet cards.
The possibilities are kind of endless, and they really work for all ages. That is, the ones who want notes in their lunch boxes. ;}
So we thought this sweet little nostalgic schoolhouse feel was perfect for any of you starting back over the next few days… to pack into their lunches and give them a smile. Or a word of encouragement. Or just something for them to think about if they had a bad day in Math.
They’re watercolor alphabet letters, on top of a subtle writing tablet pattern.
But I think they’re so fun, I’ll be using them for other things too… from gift cards to letters on the fridge, to lunch time love notes and everything in between.
Want them? Just choose your letter, click and print. 4 x 4 size – we love cardstock for these little cards.

As always, let us know if you use them – nothing makes us happier!
Have an inspired day, y’all!
Hi! These are great not only for my son but also as notes for his teachers & aides! I am also thinking they will work well with my hanging desk calendar. Thank you!
Such great ideas, Alli! LOVE it. So glad you can use them!
is there a printable of them all on a full sheet? I don’t have the know how to put them all together on one printout like you did. Such a cute idea!
Hi! They are 4×4 in size and if printed one one sheet would be minuscule – they are printed sheet by sheet- I just cut them out to show them like that. Hope that helps!
So cute, Ashley! I always love your printables! Thanks for taking the time to do them 🙂
Thanks so much, Julie! Hope you can use them! ;}
I L.O.V.E. this idea! I’ve been writing notes for my granddaughter in her lunches since 3rd grade. She is now in 8th grade. The alphabet notes make you think of something positive for every letter! Or to do a word of the day with the alphabet letter. I’m planning on incorporating both. Also, I though I would size these letters up and make coasters for dorm bound graduates? I think I’ll make these a “memory” /matching game for my for my younger grandchildren.
Thank you so much for sharing.
I’d love to know how you made your bright refrigerator magnets.
Thank you,
Renee
Renee – such great ideas! I’m so glad you can use them! Thanks so much for your kind words – you can also find the how to for the magnets, here! https://www.thehandmadehome.net/2014/11/easy-diy-fridge-magnets/
I’m getting an error for insufficient data for an image. I’m not sure if it’s a file thing or my Acrobat reader. I am trying to save them to print 4 letter on one sheet. Has anyone else had the error?
Love this! Am I too old to put notes like this into my own lunchbox? 😀
These are so cute! I may just print out a sheet and frame them for our homeschooling room!:)
These are SO PERFECT! Thanks for sharing them!
