If you remember this project from a few weeks ago, you know we were excited to get started on this renovation!
So once the design was set and plans were drawn, a schedule was put in place to get it all started.
If you want more background, be sure to check out our original post here with all the product details. Our brains and schedules are often so tied up in what we’re doing that we don’t share enough behind-the-scenes here. We’re trying to do more of that, and we thought we’d check in with a little update today.
Here’s a quick before, along with the plans via our amazing architect that we’re currently working on. Framing is always the stage that makes a huge difference with spatial flow, so we’re here to break it down. Essentially, this house was only extended out 8 feet {but a width of 35} as you’ll see below. It will make a massive difference in the overall feel of the spaces. This renovation will give them a total of 603 square feet of new space on top and bottom floors while renovating another 1,380 sqft, bringing them to a grand total of 1,983 square feet of their house under construction.
So, when we checked in previously, we showed you that the inside had been gutted. {Again, be sure to check out that post for more before and progress there.} And then it was time to start on the outside. It all began with pouring that new foundation.
And when that was ready go to…
It was time to tear into the side of the house and demo it out.
This is the stage that always makes us nervous, especially in the springtime here in the Nashville area. We tend to get more rain than Seattle, so the timer has started.
Our favorite framing crew worked really hard on this one, getting it all torn out and ready to go.
Then the new framing was added to create that new roofline.
Luckily they got everything finished in a stint of sunny weather before the bottom dropped out the very next day.
So once all of that was built and sealed, meanwhile, on the inside…
What we started with: This view into the kitchen
And here’s what it looks like now.
End goals.
The view looking out of the existing kitchen,
And the view now.
Along with end goals.
And this view here.
It’s insane to me how much larger taking out the ceiling can make a house look. This one, in particular, reminds me so much of our own renovation when it was down to the studs.
We’re now finalizing some outside finishing choices, along with choosing countertops. You know, the fun stuff while we wait on plumbing, electrical, and more. It’s a fun ride so far. We hope you’ll stay tuned to see the end result.
We can’t wait to pull it all together in a stunning, finished home for this sweet family.
As always, thanks for stopping by. Stay tuned for more progress as we continue to move along. Have an inspired day!
