One of our most asked questions is, what our favorite paint colors are for… fill in the blank here. We’ve received so many of them, that over time we decided to compile a list of our favorites from clients homes to our own, from kitchen cabinets to bathroom hues. So here are a few of our favorite paint colors, for all the various categories people ask about, the most!
1. Our Fave Paint Colors: The Best Whites for Kitchen Cabinets
For us, nothing beats a nice, classic white on cabinets in the kitchen. The space above was no exception and now, it’s timeless. Here are a few of our faves to brighten it up in the simplest of ways.
• Sherwin Williams Pure White
• Sherwin Williams Snowbound – for a softer take on white
• Sherwin Williams Marshmallow – another soft option with more creamy undertones
2. Our Fave Paint Colors: The Best Greys for Kitchen Cabinets
Probably the second-most asked question on all things FAQ’s. We love:
• Sherwin Williams Drift Of Mist for a whisper of color. Yes, I did just write that.
• Sherwin Williams Egret White – Trust us, it’s grey.
• Sherwin Williams Useful Gray – it feels more neutral than the rest.
3. Our Fave Paint Colors: For Soft, Neutral Walls
• Sherwin Williams Alabaster – is a warmer white that seems to change colors depending on the time of day
• Sherwin Williams Sea Salt – it’s a crowd favorite with just the right touches of grey + blue {photo above}
• Sherwin Williams First Star – as shown in the photo below.
4. Our Fave Paint Colors: For a Splash of Color
Because we love touches of real color, and not everything has to be soft and subtle
• Sherwin Williams Seaworthy – the perfect dark blue
• Sherwin Williams Aviatrix – a nice darker grey for a statement {as seen on our side door entry}
• Shewrin Williams Kendal Green – {we also love nurture green} which gives the perfect hue of a bright garden with a vintage feel
• Sherwin Williams Coral Reef – which looks exactly like it sounds but is such a fun hue. {see how we use it in our cabana}

6. Our Fave Paint Colors: For Bookshelves
Because they don’t always have to be white…{but we also love white}
• Sherwin Williams Bungalow Beige {seen above}
• Sherwin Williams Pediment {similar}
• Sherwin Williams Rainwashed
7. Our Fave Paint Colors: A color on kids bedroom walls
These are just a few of our recent loves – but it really is so hard to pick a very favorite.
• Sherwin Williams Tempe Star {which we’re also currently designing in a man cave of sorts – so it looks amazing}
• Sherwin Williams Lily -for that oh so pretty yellow you see above
• Sherwin Williams Earl Grey – for a nice darker gray
• Sherwin Williams Break Time -for the prettiest aqua hue – seen on our poolside fence
8. Our Fave Paint Colors: For Blue Ceilings
Because we all need a little classic haint blue in our lives.
• Sherwin Williams Tidewater – is one of our very favorites in our own home – seen on our ceilings
• Sherwin Williams Mint Condition – for something with a little more green
• Sherwin Wiliams Swimming – for something right in the middle.
9. Our Fave Paint Colors: For Fresh Basements
The key to a fresh basement, is not letting it feel like one anymore. Here are a few of our favorite hues for those lower levels:
• Sherwin Williams Westhighland White
• Sherwin Williams Toque White
• Sherwin Williams Opaline
Whew! This is just a list of some of our fave go-tos. Sometimes picking a favorite though, is just like picking a favorite space. Which is impossible. For more fun colors for our own home, be sure to check out our full-on post when it comes to all things color, here. Happy color hunting and we hope this helps get you started on your latest project.
Have an inspired day!
Please note: The colors here are chosen from the SW line. We are not sponsored by them, we just happen to work with their colors, the most, as do most professional painters. Hope that helps!
I love this idea but I wish you had a picture example of each color or at least a link to the color on the SW website so I wouldn’t have to Google search the ones that I want to see. That would make this post much more helpful. I’d especially love to see how you used the brighter colors like coral reef!
I linked them. Most of the colors are listed very closely to examples shown – and if not, I wrote out an example of where we have used it personally.
This post is perfect. It wasn’t hard to Google them but thank you for linking it all. Love all the photo examples too! So well done. Thank you thank you thank you! Love your site.
Thank you for this post. This is SO helpful! I’ve been wondering about whites forever and can’t wait to try some of these for our kitchen cabinets
Thank you so much for this post! Perfect!
Wow. So many great ideas in here. Thank you for this comprehensive list, so smart. You guys have a way with color. I’m currently trying to figure out our living room so this is just great. Thanks!
