‘Tis the season for holiday entertaining! From cider sipping to all the fun games, we’re so glad to have guests in our home again, and we love celebrating the holidays. But the part we love the most, is when it’s actually simple. With family activities, schedules, and all things work, it can be easy to feel a little scattered around the upcoming holiday season. There are a lot of items perpetually on that to-do list. So we were thrilled to team up with The Home Depot this season, to share some of our best ideas for all things entertaining. With that, we rounded up some of our favorite products, which are sure to delight in keeping things easy and manageable.
So, we’ve divided the process up into three main categories, and we’re sharing our best tips for prepping your home for holiday entertaining, with The Home Depot!
1. Prepping Your Home for Holiday Entertaining: Decorating
From trees to ornaments, wreaths and everything in between, it helps to know The Home Depot has you covered in the decorating department. We love taking a peek at all they have to offer in decorating each year, and are always thrilled to see what they have in store. The possibilities really are kind of endless.
This year, we chose colorful elements in a mix and match theme, for a colorful, happy, eclectic vibe. The more the merrier in our book, and we love the way it all came together oh so effortlessly with The Home Depot’s help!
A few of our favorite decorating tips when it comes to keeping it simple:
• In our house, color is the name of the game. We think it looks best when you diversify, layer and just have fun with it all.
• It’s really all about just keeping it simple, while making your home feel welcoming to guests. Use flocked elements combined with candle holders, colorful pieces, and more to make it really easy and festive.
• Pre-lit items can make it easier to decorate in less time. So be sure to check out all those easy options.
• Of course, we love the divide and conquer route, when divvying out the jobs around the house. It’s not a one person job, and a quick round of team work with the whole family, helps keep everything manageable. It’s also a way to create sweet memories, in the process.
2. Prepping Your Home for Holiday Entertaining: Prep Work
Once the decorating is done, there’s usually the cleaning, cooking and all things prepping route for guests. It’s enough to wear someone out when getting ready for the holidays. It’s also half the battle in getting ready, because it’s when most of the work takes place. Of course, The Home Depot has many wonderful products to make this easier, from cooking up that perfect recipe, to home automation.
When it comes to the smaller things that can actually be a big deal when you’re prepping the home, The Home Depot has you covered.
A few of our favorite prepping tips when it comes to keeping it simple:
• Meal prep is easier with their array of kitchen accessories, and useful finds to keep it simple. Do the majority of your baking ahead of time, before those guests arrive. Again, if there are more than one person staying in the house, divide and conquer to keep it manageable. We love that The Home Depot has an array of awesome items from mixers {with which I’m currently smitten} to server ware to help meet all your needs.
• Home automation is something that can make a big difference in little ways, and The Home Depot certainly simplifies that to do list.
• Adjust the thermostat from right where you are, to keep that temperature at the perfect degree whenever you need it. This has to come in handy when you’re cooking and cleaning, right? {Even if you’re just ordering in, and we don’t blame you… you never even have to leave the sofa.}
• Keep your thermostat on a schedule, to self-adjust over time, so you don’t have to.
• Bonus: No more squabbles over the thermostat in your house. This helps you monitor it right from your phone!
• We love that you can time your lights outside, with more of The Home Depot’s smartphone products to keep it all in check.
• Turn on lights with a simple touch, no matter what you’re working on in the moment. Or keep it warm and cozy before your own arrival to get that house ready.
• Time your lighting when you’re out of town, have it well-lit for guests outside, and have your house greet you in amazing ways when you arrive home after dark.
• Consider monitoring options, like Ring, to help keep an eye out when you can’t.
• It’s the season for lots of home visitors, and you can monitor your home for arriving guests, packages, and check in on everything from your phone, even when you can’t be there.
• It’s especially handy for those holiday deliveries, and making sure gifts arrive on time!
2. Prepping Your Home for Holiday Entertaining: Enjoying
This is the most important part. Don’t be so busy getting everything ready, that you forget to take a moment and relish in the little things. Making memories is what the holiday season is all about, and The Home Depot has you covered there, too. Because they make everything so much easier, you get a moment to savor in the fun part!
• Keep it cozy in the home when temps start to drop. We love their options with their fun blankets and throws, all for easy lounging and snuggles to make memories, when the guests arrive!
• Celebrate these special times with The Home Depot’s awesome collection of flatware and plates. It helps to have extra server ware on hand, so you don’t have to stop and do the dishes in between each course or meal.
Total side note, but cheesecake never looked so good!
So three cheers to celebrating where the year has brought us, and how far we’ve come.
