First of all, I was wondering what to call this project. We’ll get to that. But I’ve made a little vow to myself {and you, sweet readers} to be better about sharing more of what we’re up to behind the scenes when it comes to renovations and design. It’s been a minute since I’ve shared anything, for a ton of reasons. These last two years have been beyond complicated for us and our small business for countless reasons. Some projects I can share, some sadly, I can not. But we have been busy behind said scenes with various things and we’re really excited about this one. If you’ve been content-starved, buckle up buttercup. We have a few coming your way.
This is a not-so-little project that we’ve already been working on for eighteen months, and we haven’t even broken ground yet. Yep. EIGHTEEN. Why eighteen whole entire months, you may ask? I tell you this so that you may begin to understand the intricacies a-la the inner workings of all things septic, and the absolute nightmare that is Williamson County permits. Because it has taken this long for our sweet neighbors to get permission to get started on their dream house. That’s why it’s taken us six years to {mostly – other projects pending} complete our own home in the meantime. {And it’s also why we’ve been staring at the house across the street from us that is currently falling apart, because those people were busted sans permit, and have now been waiting for over a year now. I just wish they’d mow the lawn. #flippers.} So much fun. So, let me introduce you.
before – they have now removed their pretty garden and will be planting more in the future.
When our neighbors contacted us about redoing their house, we knew this was going to be a fun one. So we were thrilled to collaborate with our bestie Aylsworth Architecture again, and dive right in to all things plans. Why do I call it Project War Eagle, you may ask? Because I couldn’t call it the street name, doxing us all, and because as it turns out we all went to the same beloved university. Beyond that, she and I also attended the same {very} small high school in Birmingham, and didn’t even know each other. In short, I’m old, okay? Like, she was in third grade when we were getting married, old. Therefore, it shall be called project War Eagle, and we’re thrilled to give you a sneak peek today.
And here’s what it will look like, when we’re finished. Quite the change from their 1970’s something, now!
This home is currently sitting on an acre, and is 1,682 square feet. We will be adding on 1,908 square feet, going beyond their existing footprint, but using most of the existing house. This will give them a grand total of 3,590 square feet, when we’re finito. As we shared in our last real estate post, this is a brilliant way to add value to your home, especially in a market like ours. Especially in a great location like ours. We’ve seen what’s out there. So we’re excited to dive into this beautiful project, and plan to keep you in the loop as well.
A back view {before} of their current home, with their two adorable pups. I’m sure they’ll be making an appearance in our final reveals. Side note: Our oldest is a senior this year and currently considering UT, so we joked he’d need to pose with them, if that’s where he ends up. It’s the wrong orange, we know- side eye agrees.
So in the past eighteen months, we’ve been busy with surveyors, soil scientists, the codes department, planning and designing. Once the floor plans were finalized, we dove into all things design. That way when they’re given the green light, we’re all ready to go with products and more.
We love the entire feel of the house and all the plans here. And we had a lot to tackle.
And here’s a little sneak peek of what we’ve been working on…
Here’s a look at the color mapping, along with a glimpse of the outside elements that will go into all things curb appeal. We’ve already tweaked a few things, but for the most part, plan to use a ton of the elements seen here.
And I’m sharing a little mini-peek of the inside today as well, so you can get a good idea as to where we’re headed.
They already have a lovely home and you can tell they’ve made it so cozy. The previous owners already knocked out some walls, and had an affinity for recessed lighting. They also added part of the remodeled kitchen in front of the window. Why? We will never know. #youshouldhavehiredadesigner
But we’ll be taking it from this…
To this.
You guys. We really can’t wait.
Here’s a view of the kitchen elements. Entertaining is very important to them, and so a centralized space with lots of gathering intended, is what we went for with this one. Again, just a mock up {like, maybe they shouldn’t have grass in their mudroom} but I think you get the gist.
This entire project is so multifaceted, it’s almost impossible to get into all the nuances in one post. So we definitely plan to walk you more through the details. Just know that we’re loving all these Kichler Lighting, Jeffrey Court + Delta Faucet elements, for starters.
Here’s another view, just for funsies, into their pantry on the right, and family room on the left. The kitchen will actually have a smoother look with the installed cabinets, coming straight from the drywall, and tufted seating with that glorious banquette. You have to use your imagination a little.
Side note: She’s a vet, so we’re going to have lots of fun with the wallpaper elements… All creatures great and small. This one’s going in their bath. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
To the right of the kitchen, will be the pantry area {and a mudroom, too per the floor plan above – for their pups.}
Right now, their laundry has felt a bit limiting for them, as far as functionality. We can’t wait to bring this space to life. Awkward angle but you get the gist. All the fun elements that will be going into it, too!
Do you spy that colorful wallpaper? I’m smitten.
We love the way the entire home will truly flow with repetition, but also introduce fresh elements into each space.
They have lots of additional baths in between, that we can’t wait to share along the way. Aren’t you loving all these awesome colors, patterns + materials?
We love the way the entire home is coming together.
And here’s a sneak peek of their main bath. Currently… with the ‘after’.
Current bath + the design…
A glimpse of the primary bath + the after.
So many fun things in the works with this HUGE project. So, fingers crossed, we break ground soon. We hope you’ll be along for the ride. We can’t wait to share.
Let us know any specifics you’d like to see or hear about as we go along.
We’ll be launching another large one in the next few months, and plan to keep you posted on that one as well as more.
Have an inspired day!

I clicked your Jeffrey Court link but am having trouble finding it there. Do you have a name or link you can share? Thank you!

Thanks friend! We can’t wait to share. Hilarious that this post initially went up a year ago. It’s INSANE how long this has taken.
