Happy Monday, lovelies!
So remember this event?
It happened this weekend.
There was lots of great stuff, sweet precious readers, and a bountiful supply of cupcakes.
I told you guys, there would be cupcakes.
Here’s just a peek at some of the goodies.
I didn’t buy things just to put them in our yard sale. This is probably over ten years’ worth of things I’ve held on to out of guilt and regret and never knowing what to do with stuff when I don’t have a place for them anymore. A few people asked me recently if we would do it again soon. I’m not sure we will be doing this regularly, but never say never? ;} I’ll keep ya posted.
It felt really good to get rid of some stuff. And to give to a good cause.
We met lots of awesome people who allowed us to take cheesy photos. {I totally made sure no one was in the witness protection program before putting them online. I’m sure they would’ve let me know.}
These guys were hardcore fun, y’all.
We actually taped off the yard, so we could have plenty of time to set up. I felt super self important and totally ridiculous, but better about it when it served its purpose for rando non-readers who showed up early and asked for a preview. Um, no. The tape and tasers helped keep them at bay.
I’m a little biased.
I put Jamin in charge of moolah because I don’t count well, much less under pressure. He worked hard while I talked to people and and drank my grande white chocolate mocha with whipped cream.
I feel only a little guilty about that.
It’s fun to look at these pics now and see who made off with what. If you purchased some goodies, be sure to shoot me an email once you decorate with them… I’d love to see their happy new homes! And if you stopped by and you live locally and have a blog {there were a few of you I talked to and I have jelly for a brain} leave your link in the comments – I’d love to pay a visit! If you came by this weekend, it truly meant the world to us. It just means so much that you took the time out of your saturdays to stop by and say hello and help a good cause.
I’m not sure you know how much.
I feel blessed having met you guys, and wish I would have snapped a pic with each one, even if you did think I was weird. ;}
Melissa + Kallie, who were so fun and I have been reading for some time…probably too long ;}
Hilarious Jenifer who stopped by with her precious daughter… and Donna who also unabashedly shares my love for cadbury eggs. Some sweet couples and their adorable children. And so many others who should help us start a font snob club complete with t-shirts as an excuse to hang out and do absolutely nothing. ;}
After the first wave of people, came the rain. I think it probably scared more people away, and if I’m being completely honest I probably spazzed a little. Add a dash of embarrassing, because some awesome readers helped us move everything into the garage. Here’s where I say something about the best laid plans of mouse and men and we didn’t clean it beforehand because we had more important things to do like pay attention to our kids. Showing people your dirty garage kind of feels like having your underwear sitting on top of the laundry when someone stops by unexpectedly. One dude showed up and started looking through our shoes, which made it a little worse and awesome. It’s like a given that there will be awkward moments. Good times.
But in the end, did you guys know you helped raise over 500 dollars for AGAPE? Um, give yourselves a huge pat on the back. Despite the odds with crazy weather, this was kind of a big deal.
We are absolutely thrilled.
Everything was purged, with the exception of a few things. So I went over to Blue Willow and picked out a chair I’d really wanted for our office design we have planned. It was a reward. And totally applies to the one in, one hundred out rule, right? Okay. Fine. I bought a chalkboard too. But that’s because I sold our giant barn door and I know where it will go. This is something I will never touch with a paint brush. ;}
Our house feels huge right now.
Special HUGE thanks to Mark our loader-man, Carlie our signs, coffee and moral support gal, and Nana, for peace of mind in keeping the kids.
Thank you all again so much for your sweet support. It was an absolute honor and blast to meet each and every single one of your sweet faces. You totally rock.
Have an inspired day, y’all!
I wanted so badly to make the roadtrip from Shelby County…but my daughter had a swim meet (awesome meet, so I ‘m glad I didn’t skip out on her…plus, she’s my yard sale partner-in-crime). I know you had some great finds that I would not have been able to resist! Thanks for the inspiration! I’ve been mulling over the same thing around here…hmmm…maybe soon 😉
I would have LOVED to make a road trip, but it was kinda far (Portage, IN) ! But, looks like you all had an amazing day, despite the rain, and I’m like Tonya, I wouldn’t have been able to pass up quite a few items that I saw in the pics, this is my kind of sale!!! Glad it was great for ya!
Hey Ashley! Ok first, I haven’t been blog reading in while so forgive me ……I am loving your new site design!!!! I don’t know how long it’s been up so I’m a bit embarrassed if it’s been months but it’s looking fab! Looks like you had a great turnout for your yard sale. The cupcakes cracked me up 🙂
You are so sweet Jessica. No worries! I am the same way!!! It just gets that way. ;}
Thanks for totally dragging me out of bed and making me take a shower to come over and hang for a bit. Love all the goodies and we’ve already hung up our “Howdy” sign! Thanks friend! (PS-for real, girls night SOON)
Awww…Maddie will be so proud that she made the blog post! 🙂 We had a blast and it was so nice to meet you and your sweet hubby! If only I had a truck…we would have loaded up with lots-o-goodies!!! Maddie was feeling all crafty and inspired so she used the fabric we scored and recovered her bulletin board and made another with the chunky green frame and yellow fabric. We will share pics when her room is complete. Blessings to your family and YAY for AGAPE! 🙂
Hey! i tried to email you for a pic of us! I totally looked like a toad in my version and it was scary. You know the kind of pic you don’t want other people who don’t know you in real life to see, because then they will think you look like a toad? That was it. But I LOVED LOVED LOVED MEETING YOU! And feel free to email that pic. ;}
You are so funny! I am with you and would not want you to post a pic if you weren’t “feelin’ it”! I’m the same way. 😉 No toads OR goats in my pictures. I’m always the goat 😉 I am SO BAD about checking this email account regularly…so sorry I didn’t get your email requesting the pic! I will forward it to you just for fun. I LOVED meeting you too!!! You are just as presh in person as your blog personality portrays. Keepin’ it real, girl….keepin’ it real! ! 🙂
Happy Tuesday!
Jen
Send it! Send it! ;} IT was so nice to meet you! ;} And you are too sweet. Hugs!
{This is probably a dumb comment.} But after reading your blog for months (years?), and admiring its various rooms and backyard projects, I totally thought you guys were in a cottagey house in a cottagey neighborhood like Cloverdale or Garden District. Then I saw these yardsale pics and I was confused, because it suddenly hit me that you live in a newish house in one of the newish hoods on the East side of town. Now I am even more impressed with the amount of personality and character you’ve imbued into your home.
I don’t know if it’s my Lasik eyes, or that style of neighborhood, but I go brain-dead and have a hard time telling houses apart. And I also get lost easily. Embarassingly, not once but TWICE now, my husband and I have walked out of a friend’s house (on the east side of town, won’t say which ‘hood), and walked back into THE WRONG HOUSE. Oopsie. That’s awkward.
Congrats! It must feel great! I wish I had been closer. That looks like the best sale I’ve ever seen!
Awe thanks Megan!
I love the light blue dresser, pillows, & 3 tiered wire rack. Just love them! The dresser is my 2 y/os first real piece of furniture that is NOT a hand-me-down. So glad it’s such a great piece and so beautifully painted…I won’t have to do a thing!
I was also surprised that you remembered me! Impressive! Will post a photo of the piece in use in my daughter’s room when it’s completed. 😉
Why wouldn’t I remember you? You’re so funny. I hope you enjoy your goodies! ;} Thanks so much for stopping by!
OMGosh!!!!!
I would have begged, borrowed and stolen (not really) to have shopped here. I would have run thru with SOLD tags. LOL. My gosh – what treasures. Did you not cry over selling some of this???????
Good for you! Hurray and Congratulations! I recently had a purge, but it doesn’t look nearly as good (or fun) as yours! I’m SO glad we don’t live close to one another! We could have traded or bought each other’s stuff! Just what we both need! 🙂
Blessings!
i love all this so much. you are treasure and an inspiration.
We recently bough a house that we are remodeling. It has a fenced in back yard, but all the gates were stolen. I am (read: my husband) making the gates to look like your barn door mantle piece. So fun! Thanks for the inspiration!
yay so glad! ;}
I have a logistical kind of question…I too, have a lot of stuff that needs to be purged from my house. However, it’s not your typical garage sale type stuff. Some of it is the kind of stuff you might post on Craig’s List and some of it is just stuff, but I don’t want to sell it for a dollar. You know what I mean? Did you price things a little higher than garage sale prices, but not so high that you think more highly of your stuff than you should? All the stuff in the pictures looked really nice and worth a lot more to me than your typical garage sale type fare.
I think that’s a hard call to make for anyone but yourself ;}. This sale was for a good cause. So the prices were fair on key items. But I also wanted it gone. If you remember, we’ve also donated most of our ‘stuff’ before this. It’s a delicate balance… it really is. I was planning on addressing this in a post soon because I actually have a lot of thoughts on it. Stay tuned. ;}
