Remember my wonderful cool friend who totally did my dining room chairs for me and kinda rocks my face off? She really has some major talent for redoing furniture. And I have a weak spot for some great makeovers.
She salvaged this old gossip bench, that was in need of some real love.
And turned it into this:
SWEETLEMONADE! {no, I can’t stop saying it. Thanks, guys.} I think she did a fantastic job. With the combination of this fabric, and some chalk paint, Tiffany got her mad upholstery skillz on with this one. When I asked her what exactly it took to finish it in the realm of the growing popularity that is chalk paint and its process, she told me this {and I thought it would be better in her words, as I still haven’t given it a whirl…}
“I used the chalk paint, Old White. I painted two coats, waxed with AS clear soft wax (using a smooth cloth), lightly sanded the entire piece down with fine sandpaper, distressed it in certain areas, waxed it again with the clear wax and then buffed it to shine with a smooth cloth. I lightly sanded it so it would look smooth and not have a chalky, rough feel. The sanding step made it very smooth.”
I think everyone will agree with me, when I say Excellent job, Tiffany!
Lucky for those of us who live nearby, Tiffany just opened up a few booths, where her pieces will be available, here. Including that fabulous gossip bench. Swoon. If I had room for it, I would be featuring it as already purchased and currently owned by yours truly. For any of you locals who happen to be stopping in to read, be sure to check it out! I know I will be.
Thanks for tuning in today, and as usual, now it’s your turn! Fill me in on some redo’s you’ve been up to-and leave me a link in the comments section! You know I love to see!

What an EXCELLENT transformation!! Love the fabric chosen, as well as the chalk paint.
I just did my first client project; I refinished a china cabinet with Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint, and it came out great. Hope to post pictures soon on my blog.

Tiffany, I always knew you had it in you. I am SO very proud. Keep up the good work and best of luck in your new booth. You did good, girl!
I loved this bench the moment I saw it, and now I’ve purchased it, thanks so much Tiffany and wonderful work!
I’m making a sofa slipcover and saw that Miss Mustard Seed’s is almost identical in shape to mine. Mine is going wonderfully, except for the outsides of the roll arm. They don’t fit up under the roll arm, rather they hang down straight, even when sewn well into the curve of the front of the arm. When I sew the skirt on, I will have to gather this fabric hanging down which will kind of wreck the thing. I’ve looked at many slipcovers now – how do they get the fabric to fit around the roll arm properly???
My guess: rather than one continuous piece, cut the fabric straight across parallel to the floor underneath the roll arm on the outside. The bottom panel will be cut an inch or two narrower than the top panel (the part that goes over the roll arm). Now gather this panel to fit onto the bottom panel which is narrower, and sew them back together. Now the bottom panel will fit up against the sofa as it should and will fit the skirt exactly. The piece that goes over the roll arm will be gathered slightly underneath the roll arm to fit the bottom panel.
This turned out amazing! My only question is I know she painted the fabric that beautiful Tiffany blue, but how did she achieve the white design on the fabric? Did she paint that with a small brush once the blue dried? I have a chair with a similar design and would like to copy the same look! Once again great job!
Oops! Just realized the frame of the gossip chair was the only thing painted, not the fabric! Lol! Either way it looks amazing!
