We love little touches of Christmas around the home this time of year. I guess you can chalk it all up to feeling extra festive. Maybe feeling a real need to insulate our life and make it sparkle for Christmas this year on the inside of our home. Maybe some fancy holiday meltdowns in the form of compensation with glitter and sparkle. Probably a little bit of therapy mixed in with everything else. But I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to make a tinsel star garland the other day, and it was so simple, I thought I’d share it here with all of you.
Ever since we built this little window seat, it’s been begging to be draped in something fun.
Here’s what you’ll need:
• Twine of some kind – I ended up using this baker’s twine for an extra fun touch.
• This tinsel wire in gold + silver
• Scissors or wire cutters – scissors worked just fine with these
• This template – or any other star template you can get your hands on, depending on what you want.
It’s so simple, it’s kind of ridiculous.
Simply click and print out our star template.
Taking the wire garland, slowly bend it around the corners of the star, forming it as you go.
Cut it at the end, and wrap it around the edge to complete your shape.
Do some adjusting as needed, and tada! You have your first star.
For this, we just did as many as we liked – I think nine of each color for eighteen stars total.
Then we strung them up with twine – individually tying each one to the string, so that they stayed put and didn’t slide.
In retrospect, I think the pups are giving me a little side eye here. But they love any opportunity to pose.
Sure beats this before of our kitchen area!
Something about stars at Christmas, and sentimental photos and sparkle and fun little projects, that I just can’t seem to get enough of.
As always, let us know if you try it. You know we’d love to see!
Happy crafting, just because!
Have an inspired day!
I wonder if you could do the same thing but use a cookie cutter to form the shape.
Hey! I don’t see why not. Just make sure you crimp it really well whenever there’s an angle, if that makes sense – that way you get sharper angles and a better star ;}
Very festive Makes me happy to see it. Merry Christmas to all of you.
Thank you so much, Sandy! ;} Have an amazing weekend and Merry Christmas to you, too.
Your work seems to be great. Continue the great effort!!
I might think about doing a version of this to use as stairway garland next year. Thanks for sharing. Hope your holidays are wonderful.
Cute! Merry Christmas to you all.
