home depot’s celebration of service

Hello wonderful people! We’re super excited to tell you about this today!

If you’ve been reading for a while, then you may know if there’s anything we love the most at The Handmade Home, it’s design with a purpose. We also believe that the greatest gift you can give yourself, is giving back to others.

Our armed service men and women do so very much for our country. As in, I can’t really even begin to attempt to wrap my mind around, and comprehend the things they do for us. Every single day. I’m afraid it’s something we take for granted more times than not.

Today, we’re excited to announce a wonderful invitation we recently received from The Home Depot Foundation to participate in their new 5o million dollar pledge to Veteran’s Housing Initiatives.

What does this mean? From today {September 6, 2012} until Veteran’s Day {November 12th, 2012} The Home Depot Foundation will complete hundreds of service projects for the brave men and women who have served our country.

Can I get a wow?! From mobility modifications for the homes of injured Veterans, to renovating shelters for homeless Veterans…to energy efficient upgrades to the homes and facilities that serve them – it’s all about what we can all do to help.

Over the next four months, we will be partnering with Home Depot as a part of the Home Depot Celebration of Service Blog Network.

We’ll be bringing you updates on all the awesome things that are being done to help the wonderful Veterans of our country, as well as the opportunity to select and help improve a Veteran’s home in our own local community. We’re so excited that this is a national event, and we hope you can be involved in your areas, as well.

We’re super excited about this initiative, and can’t wait to share more with you… so stay tuned!
