Happy Handmade Savvy Saturday, y’all! We hope this finds you snuggled up with your faves this Saturday morning with a hot cup o’ joe, and a nice reading list to boot!
We’ve had one of those weeks where I’ve struggled. I slumped around in a funk for about a day trying to get productive. And then I realized I was experiencing the delicate combo of coming down off of a nice holiday weekend, and a severe book hangover. We finished the last in the Harry Potter series this week with my oldest almost ten year old {in four days-the first time I’ve read it since college} and I had a problem with what we call ‘productivity’ and ‘living in the real world’ for a while.
We took our time, and then all of a sudden he was all, THIS IS FANTASIC DON’T STOP, MOMMY! And I, being the reasonable adult and setting a good example said ABSOLUTELY MY WORLD IS ENDING IF WE DON’T FINISH LET’S KEEP GOING while Jamin pitched in with regular human functions like feeding people while I wore my pajamas for three days. I got dressed once so we could go see fireworks, but it rained. So we finished the book instead. Nothing says Happy Birthday America like a good British book… Am I right? Ribs + a good book that makes me cry = slow off the blocks for Monday.
And then Shark Week started, so I was basically useless, because I was all, SCIENCE! I mean, nothing beats a good afternoon of television like some overdramatized reenactment of a shark attack to traumatize our children top it all off, right? I am a full blown adult child. Until the kids started screaming over what I thought was a shark attack, and it was really someone’s bum on the teli in a badly placed commercial about survival. {Yes, I’ve been reading HP too long} Bad advertising call, Discovery Channel. Because now we have to zoom through all the nudi commercials so we can watch a seal die.
The struggle is real.
All joking aside, I think some of it has been trying to figure out our curriculum for next year. You guys have been so sweet with your encouraging comments and suggestions – it means so much to know we’re not alone in this! Fist pump. Let’s do this.
So without further ado, here’s a few of our faves from the www this week:
Have you seen this fantastic book by our friend Stacy Risenmay? No really. It’s absolutely gorgeous with some beautiful ideas for the home!
Great, one of a kind inspiration and eye candy for wherever you live, whatever your style using natural accents. With detailed directions and pretty photography, the beauty of this is that natural accents never go out of style, and they add dimension like nothing else can.
She has a ton of of ideas and inspiration… with projects that are perfect for your look, no matter where you live.
Be sure to check out more about it, here!
This gorgeous tour by Simple Stylings. Yes please.
This beautiful quote by The Refined Pen Calligraphy is oh so true!
PS if you need any custom work done, this talented company does beautiful, quality stuff. {They did our wedding invites once upon a time- and they were gawgeous!}
Have an inspired {non book/ribs hangover} day!

When the last HP book came out, my husband and I each got a copy and read it from dawn until just after dinner. I only stopped for a quick run around the neighborhood and he only stopped to pick up some Thai food. Which we ate in silence while reading our books. In other words, I can totally relate. 😉
