We drink water, more than anything at our house. Yeah, I know. You’re all, “everyone drinks water. duh.” Or at least they should.
Sorry not sorry but we can never have enough water. We were talking to this guy we knew pretty well, who was all, “I don’t drink water”. Apparently he only had coke and milk. All the time. And we were side eyeing so hard because he’s like forty and also, HOW IS HE ALIVE. #anxiety #calcifiedarteries #tummyache
If you’re a lot like us then I think you know what we’re getting at… we’re the ones that fill our special cooler cups that keep things cold for days on end with water, and drink all. day. long. To the point where if I don’t get enough of it at my usual level, I can feel pretty bad. Our bodies are made up of 60% water. The brain and heart are made up of 73% water. The lungs are at a whopping 83%… should I keep going? I’m a dork and I find all this fascinating.
So, pure, clean water is important to us. It really makes you think about what you’re putting into your body.
We live in an older home, and when we went through our renovation, we were careful to do it right. That meant stripping it down to its core. This house was not for a simple flip, because we believe in doing things right, up to code, and safely with all things new. That included the wires, the air ducts, and the pipes, just to touch on a few. A house that’s been around since the mid 1970’s needs a refresh.
However, we still want to make sure we’re taking extra precautions with our family. I’m not one to fill up a cup from the sink and drink away. We were really relying on our fridge filter for that.
Enter the A.O. Smith Whole House Filtration System.
This is a filtration system that we had easily installed underneath our house. With our crawlspace in the plumbing department. That means that from now on, every single cup of water we grab from the faucet… is better for us.
Cost: It’s actually affordable. You can find it at Lowe’s here.
We were spending {with a family of five} $200 annually on fridge filters. That equates to a whopping $1,200 over six years. And a lot of waste.
With an A.O. Smith whole home water filter, we save over 900 dollars. Yes, please.
Function:
It reduces 97% of the chlorine taste and odor from any faucet, making it safe and pleasant drinking water.
Exposure to harsh chlorine, depending on where you live, can cause excessive drying on your skin and hair. Reducing the exposure can increase softness. {Bonus!} So when it comes out of your shower faucet on the daily, that’s a good thing.
Filtering all the water coming into your home helps stop chlorine from evaporating into the air you breathe providing cleaner air throughout your home. {Double bonus.} In general, it means less impact from the environment because bye plastic bottles!
What we love about the A.O. Smith filtration system, is that it comes with a limited 6 year warranty behind each one. With a simple install, it includes the central filter, shut off valve, nipple and hose adapter as well as instructions on how to install the system. Easy peasy steps to filtered water throughout your home.
The next time we have to replace this puppy, our oldest will be a senior in high school! What?! I know time flies, but that’s kind of nice. It sure beats the refrigerator! It’s perfect for a family of four or more.
So we love this A.O. Smith filtration system so far, and all the awesome health benefits it’s bringing our family for a lower cost. Practical and awesome for our entire household.
Do you have a whole house filtration system? We’re kind of new to it, but it’s one of those things we’ll always love.
ALL THE WATER!

I’ve been thinking about getting something like this. Did it change your water pressure at all? I think that’s my biggest concern.
Jamin Mills says
Hey Jill.
No, it didn’t change our water pressure at all and I think that would be true with most homes unless they have an existing water pressure issue due to old pipes.
Anna says
This is awesome! Is your hair softer?
ashley @ the handmade home says
YES! I’ve washed my hair with it once so far, and it’s SOOO much softer! LOVE it!!!
