This is round 3 of our inspiration boards in the middle of beercanmoldpocalypse 2014, and today I thought I’d share a few inspiring bedroom images. Since we have a good portion of our wall missing… and an equally good portion of our carpet…
We decided we may as well mix it up and get kinda crazy in the bedroom, as well.
No, this isn’t a racy article for Vogue. Stay with me.- via
If there’s two things I’m really glad we never did when we first got hitched… it was A. register for fine china {Though my southern counterparts are absolutely appalled, I’m sure… I don’t use it. Never have. Never will. I much prefer to collect Eclectic pieces as I go…} And B. Freak out and go buy a fancy shmancy matching bedroom suit. I can’t tell you how many friends I have that have bemoaned their choices.
Over the years, we’ve slowly collected pieces, and it’s suited us just fine. But I’m ready for a real live big girl bed. A few years ago, we invested in a cheap headboard at JCP, and that was it. I’m ready to take the dive and get a real live grown adult bed.

For some reason, it seems like the master bedroom is always left very last for people. It’s usually one of those things where we wonder why we waited so long. I mean, it’s basically our only escape from Nerf gun Lego barbie bombardment attacks with a side of little people wrestle mania, right? At least ’til morning, anyway.
So does that mean we will spill moolah on something pricey?
Nope. It means I’m ready to build a real live awesome cool big girl adult bed.
I have no idea why the adjectives keep growing, but let’s just go with it.
We’re usually always drawn to soft colors with punches of fun. And I love contrasting it with natural elements and wood tones. So today, we’ve rounded up a few of our fave images to share and hopefully, inspire. No matter what space you’d rather tackle next.
So sit back + enjoy the eye candy!
This color. Swoon. via
The wall. The rug. The ceiling. Yes please. via

If only I could find some side tables like this: via
Swooning yet? It kind of makes me want to put on my jammies and climb into a fluffy bed. And read a good book.
So the challenge? To mix in a few new touches with a few old, while giving it a little spruce up…. Hopefully resulting in a sanctuary for two… or five. Six, if you count Chloe.
1. + 9. This fabric for a little bedding and shots of fun, painterly style give a nod to a feminine vibe without being too overwhelming {See me: contrasting it with more geometrics below to strike that balance} And a lovely linen like this on the windows with the bamboo shades we already have.
2. + 3. Have you guys seen Crane and Canopy? A great resource for affordable, gorgeous bedding. See the duvet here + the throw, here. Perfect for layering with the fabric above!
4. I kind of freaked out and scored this rug at a Joss and Main sale recently. And decided to build on those colors with shades of aqua, grey and purple for the space.
5. We’re always drooling over School House Electric. This fixture would put a fun modern twist on the rest of the space.
6. We’ve loved this bed for some time… and I’ve been obsessed with the idea of a rustic, four poster bed. I’m ready to take a DIY version of a bed on! You just can’t beat the classic shape.
7. Some kilim pillows for a vibrant touch of purple would be such a fun twist. {Cue me: Kicking myself for missing these when they were available.}
8. The same color we went for in our closet: Benjamin Moore’s China Blue. It’s a bit of a bolder version of what we have right now on the walls. We’re just suckers for blue.
10. I think I’ll be going for more of a natural finish, but this orange cabinet is certainly fun for a couple of night stands with ample storage. {See: Threshold does it again}
We’ll be revamping things like our dresser, lamps, armoire, and a few other things to mix it in for a fresh look. I also have a super fun idea for art I can’t wait to share with all of you.
So what about you? Do you use your master bedroom as a retreat? {When littles aren’t piling in, of course} Ever wonder why you didn’t do it sooner? What are some of your must-haves for a cozy space? We’d love to hear your ideas!
As usual, completely amazing. Can’t wait to see what you do!
That fabric! The bedding! Swoon! I love that color combination. You have such a way with colors!
I love your “bedroom inspiration” sample photos. There is a 4-drawer file cabinet similar to your bedside table ( in the final shot of that series, from the Norwegian Website) at http://www.houzz.com/photos/310282/Everglades-Storage-Drawers—White-modern-filing-cabinets-and-carts-
Maybe you could add wheels to the bottom?
We finally finished our master bedroom…finished “for now” I should say. 🙂 I super, super love the idea of you diy-ing a 4 post bed because then I can learn from you and steal your brilliant ideas. 🙂 I was thisclose to buying this one today, but I didn’t. Sigh.

LOVE the touches of orange in your inspiration board….the orange cabinet just makes jump up and down with joy! Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.
Hi, i saw a cute loft bed that runs across the whole wall. I saw your website on it but cant find anything on your site. Do you have any instructions on how to build it or how to hold it up?
