The weather here has been cooooolllldddd.
Like, batton down the hatches, this tropics-of-Alabama-transplant just may not make it, cold. And by hatches, I mean all the layers. I have no idea why I spontaneously gave you a pirate analogy there.
So what does one do on a sweet Fall late afternoon that’s quickly fading into night, other than start a fire?
It’s our family’s favorite thing to do in the colder weather, there is something magical about sitting around a fire with friends and family. And, the weather is perfect for just that, after all.
So cue the fire bowl, and the lawn chairs and all things snuggly and warm. Because a little drizzle was coming, and we thought it would be the perfect opportunity for a cozy fire and some warm memories.
Rather than hunting for little limbs and logs from around the house one of our favorite ways to get it started fast, is with Duraflame’s Crackleflame logs. We love the simplicity and reliability of the logs, it’s really a no fuss fire. Plus they burn longer and produce 80% less emissions than traditional firewood. #winning
Easy peasy, we simply place them in our little fire bowl, and light them up! Great for all our family nights and social gatherings.
It’s instant warmth that lasts for a few hours, without the fuss.
It’s perfect for backyard impromptu fires, camping, and so much more fun with all things Fall!
They’re great for those indoor fires as well as they are accepted by the chimney safety institute of America. Although only burn one log at a time when using indoors.
Within minutes, we had a pretty large fire going, and the best part? It crackled. You know, that nice sound that gives you all the warm fuzzies that comes with a well-built fire.
There was no wrestling with the logs or the wet issue of wood. Just a simple light-and-go, and enjoy. We didn’t even need to add more wood, just lite and simply enjoy.
And Jamin’s favorite part, the clean up was simple and easy afterward, no dealing with lots of ashes.
I’ve decided I may be actually able to manage in the colder weather if I can carry these things and the fire bowl with me, wherever I go.
That shouldn’t be a problem, right?
The kids absolutely loved every minute!
Next up: glamping in the hideaway. Totally doable with our new fire-starter friend.
Count me in!
I think next time we will break out the roasting logs and share some more of our very favorite s’mores recipes… because now we’re all craving them.
Where are some of your favorite places to do outside fires around your home? We’d love to hear!
As always, have an inspired day + stay warm!

we like to cook our whole meal outside on our fire. I wrap potatoes in 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil and put those on the fire as soon as we have some coals. we’ll cook most anything on the metal grate that we set on top–off to the side. I do quesadillas, shrimp, meats, etc. what fun memories you’re making around your fire!

I like my little outdoor fireplace, too. It is nice to cuddle around and have good conversations and laughter. Did yours burn the grass under it?
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Rose! It actually didn’t… I don’t know if it was because the ground was wet or it was high enough off the ground or both… but no burned grass ;}
