Growing up in the deep south I (Jamin) was in the double digits, age-wise, before I really believed we had more than two seasons. Sure, they taught us about the seasons of the year in school, but experience taught me otherwise. There were 5-7 weeks of winter and then Summer, dead of Summer and late Summer (also known as college football season).
30 years later, it still feels the same and I’m pretty sure everyone is a liar. The heat seems to affect the kids more these days. I think it’s because we don’t push them out the door and let them roam freely in the neighborhood. Or let them drink out of the garden hose.
Those were the days. There must be some special heat-fighting nutrient you get from that. But apperantly the same people who told us there are 4 seasons in the South, are now declaring it unsafe. Never seemed to hurt me… But I digress.
We do love our kids being outside, even if it is 1 degree cooler than the surface of the sun.
I mean, that’s why we built the hideaway. We even moved school outside yesterday. They had a blast, even if they were dodging the ridiculously gargantuan carpenter bees. Is it just me or do they get bigger every year? I blame global warming {See trap as next on the to-do list. See Ashley run and scream like a girl. She says she is a girl… so there’s that.}
So when our friends at TTI (Makers of our favorite brands like RYOBI, Rigid, Stok) told us they were coming out with a new product we were all ears. And check this sucker out. Genius!
It’s a bucket top mister that runs off our 18v RYOBI batteries. How cool, literally, is that?!
It can be a simple portable fan or turn the pump switch on, and you have an amazing misting system to beat the heat. All you need is a bucket – or a hose – if you choose to use the mister. Think of the uses! Hello beach! Hello ballpark!
It’s the little things.
In the meantime, our kids are loving it for the backyard and I have a little surprise for them: Arctic Cove also has a misting kit system which I plan to rig up on the trampoline for the inevitable tropics of Alabama summer months. I’ll share that little bit of heaven later and if you’re really lucky, maybe a picture of the adults enjoying it too. I know. You’re counting down the days.
I took the Arctic Cove mister camping the other weekend and it was a bigger hit than the food. Not to mention, I slept with it on all night at it still had plenty of battery left. You can expect to see this guy in the background of work shots this summer helping me keep cool.
Cue slow motion video of us shaking our hair in front of it. And stuff. Maybe we can throw sawdust in the background for added drama.
Cue slow clap from you guys.
So what’s in it for you?
The awesome creators are giving away a Bucket Top Mister, Big Chill Misting Stand & 22’ DIY Misting Kit for your back porch. That’s over $150 worth of coolness. We would love for you to win! Follow the details below to enter… and Good Luck!
This is an awesome idea! I’m thinking tailgating just got a whole lot cooler!
I love to sit outside at the lake. This would be perfect for those really hot days! Thanks for the great giveaway.
Its still pretty cold here so its hard to imagine needing a fan, but those days are coming. I would use it for yard work activities. Great for extra breeze when sweating.
awesome! so many uses are coming to mind!
Oh man…I would love this for sitting outside while the boys play.
Here in NC I need one of these to combat the humid Summers!!! Thanks!
My son has cerebral palsy and since birth, he has had a difficult time regulating his body temp. In winter, his legs feel like little icicles and in the summer, he wilts like an overheated flower. I would use the Arctic Cove to keep him comfortable and help him enjoy our family’s summer activities.
Thanks for the chance!
Oh how I would love this for our Midwest summers! I know you in the South have it bad, but gosh, our Midwest summers are terrible too!
I would love to bring it up to the cottage for a refreshing treat.
Ok, this is too cool! Definitely using this outside this summer. I think I’d hanging the misting system up on our pergola! Thanks!
Wow this looks amazing. Living in Georgia it gets horrible in the summer. Would love to have this to enjoy sitting on our patio or doing blog projects in the yard.
Oh my!! That’s about the ‘coolest’ thing I’ve seen in a long time!! Would make an awesome Father’s Day gift!!
This is AWESOME! (in the voice of Kung Fu Panda). This totally takes away all of hub’s excuses for working on projects in the garage this summer. We must have this!
I’d put this outside by the kids sandbox!
This is genius!!!
Love this!!!
This would be perfect for camping!
That is ingenious. My kids and I spend time at my mom’s cabin in rural Wisconsin and while not as hot as Alabama, it still can get hot and humid in the summer.
Not really an issue in Seattle. We have winter rain, spring rain (which lasts until after July 4th), summer, and at last, fall rain. We feel so sorry for the rest of the USA when our hot (to us) weather finally hits and it’s a whopping 82 degrees out. And freakishly enough, it’s never humid (unless actually raining.
Awesome idea! One of those, “Why didn’t I think of that?!” Summer’s in Maryland could get a whole lot cooler. I could use it at my summer wedding, as a cool off station! 🙂
Would love to use this in our backyard this summer!
What a great idea! Would be perfect on the patio in the Texas summers!
That would be so fabulous for our lake house! Thanks!!!
I’m all about not passing out Scarlet O’Hara style this summer!
My kids will totally dig the misting kit set up around the trampoline. This is genius!
With four kids living in Texas we could definitely use this.
I live in Scottsdalem,AZ and would use this to cool my porch during the summer when it is HOT HOT HOT!
ugh, typing to fast! I meant Scottsdale, AZ
This would be great for the backyard!
This is so cool! I would use this on my back deck to keep cool.
For our kids!
OMG! We would use this for outside playtime, camping, and so much more! I was just telling hubby that we have got to get some misters up for the summer!!
I would use this in my backyard all of the time! I actually want to build my boys a little backyard bungalow like yours and this would be perfect in there for them!
So Michigan may not seem to be tropical, but when you have spent the last 6 months a lot of degrees below zero any heat is overwhelming!
That is an awesome product! I will seriously consider getting this for own Alabama tropics backyard. It would be great to let the kids play outside with this!
I’m pregnant this summer, so I would use it to cool down as I play outside with my little girl! (I would also bring it to the beach with the hubby and I if we got it in time!)
Would be great for end of year school parties outside
And for staying cool at our cookouts all summer!
What a “cool” product. Even though we live in AK we’ve had some warm days recently. I’d love something like this to use when we are out camping.
This little gem would come in so handy down here in Florida and I would love to have one to use while I’m gardening!
I would use it for the kids in the backyard.
What a neat giveaway…thanks!
i need this fan immediately!!
We’ll be renovating too. I’ll hand it to the man with the plan while he hangs drywall on the hip walls!
This is an awesome set up!
This would be perfect for South GA afternoons and weekends this summer and “fall”! With two toddlers, we spend a lot of time outside! We also camp and go to races, which would really be much more pleasurable with the arctic cove!
I live in California. We also only have 2 seasons. Plus, I would probably use it year-round. I’m getting close to “that” age. 😉
This would revolutionize my kids backyard experiences at peak heat of Colorado summers. They would surely commandeer it for their treehouse hideout, and mom and dad would surely take it to each and every baseball game.
I have chickens and ducks and live in Georgia. This would be an awesome solution to keep them cooler on those REALLY hot Summer days.
I would use this outside while my husband and I watch our dachshunds chase squirrels!
What a clever product! It would be perfect for lazy afternoons relaxing with family and friends : )
We are moving back to Texas and this would be just the thing to render our backyard useable! I would love to be able to go outside without combusting!
That looks fabulous! We are in the heat here too but it’s a dry heat. Lol we still die. And I hear ya on the seasons.
This is amazing! I’m always working on furniture in my garage and I would love one of these!
Fantastic way to make summer heat more bearable & let kids stay out longer!
I have been trying to figure out if there is a battery-operated fan that we can take for our family camping trip this summer!…5 young boys and my husband and I… hot tent and everyone used to having some kind of white noise…this seems awesome!! Thank you for the chance!
That is awesome! Would help me keep my kids outside for longer than three minutes!
This is crazy awesome. I know what to get the hubs for Father’s Day now!
My husband would love me forever…(maybe even more than he does now ;))
It would be really cool (ha) on our deck!
I would give it to my son leaving for college!! 🙂 Or use it in our garage crafting!!
My 3 kids love to play outside too but get so hot and sweaty. This would be awesome for us!
I would use it on our trips to my brother’s “off the grid” cabin. It gets hot and this would be a fun mid-day refresher!
brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!
I would use this on my patio
We would LOVE this! And how cool is it that it can also be a mister?!
We live in Texas, so like you guys, how would we NOT use this??
this would be perfect for my family and I. we love to be outside and with the summer coming up it would make the heat and humidity tolerable.
This looks awesome! I would love to win this. This would be a great addition to summer trampoline fun. Keepin’ it cool on the trampoline!
Looks like the perfect solution to kids complaining of how hot it is; I would love to try this out.
For camping and for my pergola in the backyard !
I would def. use this daily! lots of kids, small back yard, the stifling heat of Virginia… you get the point. super idea!
I would probably use it in our apartment seeing as we have no AC! 🙂 this is awesome!
We need this for our back patio! It gets the blazing 5:00 sun!
Here in MS, I feel your pain…or heat, if you will 🙂 My family would love this for playtime and cook outs in the backyard and for working on projects in the garage/driveway!
And the bees! Omg, I found some had drilled into a back slat on my porch swing. How is that even possible? They are as long as the slat is thick! Along with those, we have some coming and going from a hole at our garage door opening. So we’ve been combating them as well. The bees flying around don’t bother me too much, but if a wasp comes near I will run, scream, flail and possibly leave a child behind…jk…maybe 🙂
HAHA! I might leave a child behind too. Kiddingnotkidding. ;}
Southeast texas= the devils arm pit. For realz. Love it here but a little less May-September.
For the backyard in the summer! It would definitely help us keep the kids off of the couch and active in the great outdoors during those hot days.
On our back patio!
This looks great for the porch!
We would set this up by our backyard swing set to keep our 3 boys happy and outside this summer!
Camping!
We live in Texas, which is also so very hot in the summer. We’d use this mister many places – hot horse shows, summer days and nights on our patio, 4th of July fireworks….
Love this idea need this with six kids and blazing hot summers in Georgia
We live in the south too and I would use his almost daily for hanging out in the yard from about March till sometime in November!!! Camping also, my daughter and I both gasped when we saw it!!!! This is AWESOME!
On the patio for our annual Fourth of July picnic. Bet this will help keep the gnats and flys away too.
This would be great for the kids this summer- and to take to the beach.
my husband has a stall at a flea market, and no a/c in the building — this would go a long way toward keeping him cool in the heat !!!!!
I would use arctic cove in our garage & back yard for small gatherings. What a great product!
Need one here in Texas!!!
I live in Phoenix Arizona! Our summers reach 122 at the highest. I am so needing this!
I would take it with me when I go to the beach.
This would be amazing for our back yard or front porch. Love that it is portable!!
I would use Arctic Cove while relaxing in the backyard on my new lounger-early Mother’s Day gift from Hubby.
I know I sound really boring by saying this, but I’d probably just set it up outside for the kids… Up here in PA, we get lots of summer days that are 97 degrees with about 18,000% humidity, so any little bit of cooling helps, even if it’s just by adding more moisture to the air 🙂
Oh, the irony.
Thanks for the chance to win!
I’d use it for both the kids and the adults this entire summer on the patio area while celebrating the season.
For everyone and anyone that will be lounging in our backyard this Summer.
I am pregnant with my first, and this would be an amazing way to keep cool while working on new house projects in the heat before our baby arrives!
Would love this for our screened porch!
keeping the bugs away while camping sounds amazing!
I would use it for outdoor family gatherings, now and this summer!
Hi there, we are currently building our hideaway and was wondering how the slide has help up over the years so far? Does it get really hot in the sun?
Hey Jaclyn! The slide has been great! It doesn’t really get hot because it’s under the shade of our giant tree, but when it does get direct sun, the kids have never said anything about it. It has held up fantastically. I hope that helps!
That looks so cool! I live on the coast in South MS so I know what you mean about the heat!
I would love to use it when i sunbathe in the backyard!
Brilliant!
This would be awesome in the backyard this summer!
This is so perfect for camping!
our kiddos would love that outside this summer…genius!
I’ve never heard of such a thing… looks very cool!
I would use this with my children this summer! We love playing outside, and this would be such a cool treat!
I would use it in my child’s playhouse! Would be PERFECT for our super hot Texas summers! What a great idea!
would be perfect in the backyard!
This would be amazing for camping in the dead heat of summer. Which up in the Midwest is July and August for us.
This would be awesome for the guys while they build our new deck and patio this summer… and even more awesome for me when I’m ready to kick back, relax, and enjoy the fruits of their labor 🙂
This would be perfect for our playhouse!
Perfect for garage
I would use it in the backyard with the kids. It looks awesome!
I would set it up on the front porch
