For us personally, I think that this year, we’re really focused on how wonderful the idea is of being home for the holidays. It’s a theme that seems to resonate in everything that we do right now, after we waited for so long.
Months ago, when we were looking at this house and wondering where our new home would be, the first thing that drew us in, was the swing. It said “welcome home” – and we knew this was it. After almost passing it up, we didn’t even want to look at it. It made absolutely no sense… but sometimes love does that to ya. ;} We went through a tough process, but ended up falling into this fabulous community and little pocket of a place with an amazing school surrounded by some long time friends and awesome new ones.
It’s kind of crazy how things work out.
It’s taught us a lot about having faith, because sometimes in the sleepless nights that’s all you have to see it through. And a lot of thanksgiving in our lives, all year round. We’ve already started some new traditions, like posing in the swing…every year. We can’t wait to see how each little photo looks as our family changes and our kiddos grow.
Things have been a little crazy around here, since we just moved in two weeks ago after taking on a full on renovation. We took on a good bit of the work ourselves, and we’ve been recovering, to say the least.
In between getting settled, finishing up a few things and taking on the basement… {which we plan to tackle next}… then the exterior…. then more after that… a lot crazy. We have a lot to take on in the future, and we like it that way.
We’ve never been more thrilled to just embrace the holidays with some easy peasy ideas, and celebrate. We’re just so glad to be here.
We’re still not all the way unpacked, but in the meantime we’re looking for simple holidays with items of comfort and gatherings with our favorite people.
If this transition has taught us anything, it’s that we couldn’t go through what we just went through, without the people we love.
And the holidays are for celebrating those people.
Never were words so true, after waiting all this time.
We can’t wait to show you the rest of the space!
We find ourselves drawn to items of comfort, like all time favorite books. And settling in to take a deep breath in with warm blankets and sweet snuggles. And perfectly proportioned mugs of hot cocoa.
With whipped cream and peppermint, of course.
All the things we looked forward to, after waiting.
Ps. Just gotta say… my inner Monica adores these coasters for all things furniture and entertaining. Seriously. The best.
I guess you could say we went for super simple, with a side of major practicality.
It’s what we needed most.
And even though the fireplace isn’t quite finished yet, it’s already our favorite space to cuddle and spend the cooler nights. Rigby and Fitz love it, too.
And we add a little festive glow with some sweet candlelight.
The one thing we were the most eager to do, was to get the kiddos set up in their new space.
They’ll be sharing a space for a while, and we love this little sleeping room. They still have their own areas, with major personality and colorful fun.
And the one thing they wanted to do as soon as we finished?
Decorate it for Christmas.
So in the name of all things celebrating and loving our new home, we said… why not?
Yes, we have lost our everlovingminds.
The kids waited for so long and have been through so much with a lot of transition and adjustment.
It just felt right.
I’ve always been a big stickler for waiting until after Thanksgiving. I’m a rule follower.
But this year, nothing said thankful more than adding a little festive, and truly celebrating.
Every year, they decorate their own tree with their favorite ornaments.
Something tells me we may be adding more tree-age to this space, since we’ve consolidated rooms.
So the champagne ornaments and vintagey sign were so much fun to add to their space!
If you can’t beat ’em…
Thanks so much for stoping by to check out what we’ve done so far.
We’re in love with the sweet little cozy additions. They remind us of the important stuff this year.

I love, love, love this and am so in the mood to decorate. I’ve never really thought of Kirklands as a place for me to shop, really more for my mom. But I love some of this stuff. I’m going to need to pay closer attention to their products and here’s hoping I win the giveaway.
