Planner and home nerds unite. I’m going out on a real limb here, but I’m willing to bet that if you read our site, there’s like a 97.999 percent chance you just may be both. So today, I’m about to rock your world.
I mean, you know we love our planners around here, and all things home. So we figured this little book may be just right up your alley. This one is almost as if the two came together, got married, and had their first {idyllic, dream} baby. Because The DIY Home Planner is our new favorite thing from our friend Karianne of Thistlewood Farms.
You know that feeling when you were little, and you went to the book fair at school flipping through pages and oogling books on shelves until you chose the most amazing, gorgeous one there? I may or may not have been the one who also loves the smell of books, so ignore me if I’m getting weird. But it’s almost like you picked the best one off the shelf. Because not only is it a thoughtful, well-assembled read, but *bonus*! It’s filled with stickers and tear outs and other goodies.
This is the DIY Home Planner, except for adults.
If you’ve ever been at that place in your life where you needed a little hand holding in creating a space, {don’t we all?} it’s almost like your best friend just arrived to hand you a great little {spiffy!} manual full of the entire breakdown with everything you need to know. It’s all to help inspire, get you started, and polish it all off in a way that only you can.
The DIY Home Planner is chock-full of illustrated beauty, gorgeous graphs, and awesome photography.
We love that it’s really a step by step guide for creating your own spaces, with room for your own ideas once you’ve garnered inspiration from the pages.
Karianne breaks it down with helpful tips for anyone who may be a little curious about certain words or terms. That way, you totally know what you’re talking about when you visit the home improvement store.
Or the convo comes up over coffee with friends, because that too.
We love that this little book breaks it down, step by step, in an almost formulaic way to help anyone who’s ever been a little hesitant to dive right in. It’s like a sweet push of inspiration with room for your amazing ideas all in one place.
Have we mentioned how gorgeous the art is? It even has a place in the back with fun tear outs. Yes, please!
They’re like a little dose of encouragement to add to your space!
So, for anyone who’s ever been a little hesitant or unsure of where to start, or for anyone who loves gorgeous books and planners and all things organization… this is for you.
Scoop it up today, and you can stay up late with your color coded pencils and markers, with all your planning ’til your heart’s content… and thank us later. ;}
But here’s the fun news!
One lucky duck winner will score a copy of The DIY Home Planner + this awesome 100 dollar gift certificate to Kirkland’s + some Frog Tape goodies!

This looks awesome! And last week we closed on our new house where EVERY space needs a refresh!! Thanks for the chance to win!
We’re redoing our flooring soon, and I know that will lead to lots of other projects. The kitchen and living room are high on my list.
The bedroom would be the perfect place to use the planner.
I love Karianne! This book would be a great addition to my collection!
My whole house needs a refresh and discerning eye. Moved in seven years ago and just haven’t had the direction to go. This looks like the perfect way to get started with success and panache.
There is not a space in my house that couldn’t use a little TLc and some fine tuning. I need a little inspiration and direction. What fun it would be!
This planner looks amazing 😍
I need a little help organizing my everything room: dining, office, music, and entertainment.
Our bedroom needs major help!
We are planning to put our house on the market soon. I would use this book for our living room AND our bedroom. They need help desperately.
My son has moved out for the last time (fingers crossed) and I want to change his room into a nice sanctuary for myself. A place where i can read and relax and feel like it is just mine.
I love this concept!
I’m happy with one room in my house. Still working on all the rest!
The Master Bedroom needs some help. My husband and I have different tastes so making sure we both get what is most important to each of us would be wonderful.
Oh This book Looks AAMMMAAZZIINNNGG! Thank you so much for bringing it to our attention! I have no idea what Room I would Plan out first! I have been looking for ideas for my office/family gaming room, The Kitchen, Living room and Master Bedroom!
We desperately need help in our living/dining room we keep moving things around but it never feels like home.
I would love to use this planner to redo my master suite.
Our whole bonus room is next on the list. I’d like to turn it into rental income and need LOTS of help!
ps…you had me at School Book Fair!
I will be retiring in 2 years. I am looking for ideas on how to make my house comfortable and inviting for my retirement years. I have raised 3 kids and 7 grandchildren in this home and it now looks nothing like how I want my home to be. It looks like it’s been through a major war or catastrophe. I am looking for ways to make it look like “me”.
I work as a QA tech in a tea company and test taste tea all day. I also have a small Etsy scrapbook art business that I do on the side for now and hopefully, make it a supplemental income after I retire.
I will welcome any ideas you have to offer.
Thanks,
Lorraine
I would love this as I need help with visualizing what I would like, planning the design out, and actually carrying out the design (as in knowing what stuff to buy (and where to buy it!) to get the look I want). Basically I need help with everything!
I need to incorporate a sewing area into my bedroom and remake our office to be more functional.
We just recently bought a 100 year old farmhouse, all of it needing so lovin’! This planner would be so helpful in our journey
Would love to win this book!
It looks so awesome. I agree with the extra bonus of finding the book with tear-outs and stickers. I would love some help with my living room that never seems to be right!
What a beautiful book! I really feel like i could use it for every room in my home at this moment.. But def the dining room first! X
Our entire house is in need of remodeling…I think I would start with the living room; first thing you see when you walk through the front door!
What a fantastic review! I just want more help accessorizing and perhaps planning some kitchen ideas!
Our family/play room is unsatisfying. I always feel like I could do better but don’t know how. So that would be a great place to start!
I would use this planner to add some zip to our “blah” living room. This looks like great way to plan out some fun ideas. What a great tool- thanks so much!
I would love to use the planner to organize my thoughts and my projects for each room in the house! I have so many thoughts and ideas floating in my head, and I end up hitting things down in random notebooks and losing track. This planner would really help me keep track of my DIY projects so I would be more likely to get them done!
I love the colors and the art in this planner!
I love many things about my house, but I’m always coming up with ideas or dreaming about things I’d like to do or try. We’d like to finish our basement and laundry room someday and I have a room upstairs I’d love to have bookshelves built into.
I would love to make over my family room! I need all the help I can get!
Very fun post! Excited for KariAnne!
I really need help in all my rooms, especially the living room and my bedroom
You make this book so much better than what I thought. If I hadn’t been in the group or known about the book, is jump out right now and but this book. You have such a way with words.
My house is always a work in progress but my bedroom could use a little more attention. Thanks for the opportunity to win this book. It looks like just the inspiration I need.
What a beautiful and functional book! I love it. I would use it for my Master Bedroom and our boys’ bedroom.
I need to plan and organize my mountain of paper in my home office
This book has been such a big help for me. In many ways it gives us guidelines but it also sets us free to be able to follow our vision and feel confident while doing so.
I’ve always wanted to purchase at Kirkland’s, this might be my chance.
Nice
Wow, this is really cool! Thanks for a chance to win!!
I would like to fix the kitchen.
Marilyn
Yeah, I’m a total nerd. Love the post. Love the book. Love KariAnne.
This would be so useful as we’ve just built a house and the walls are still bear after 6 mos!😩
I LOVE the colorful illustrations!
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing. 🙂
You are truly amazing and I’ll always share my colored pencils with you. 🙂
Happy day friend1
karianne
I want to do something with my master bedroom, it’s a bit blah. And my living room, too much dark brown and can’t decide what colour to paint one or two tables to lighten it up, maybe changed the curtains. Ordered my book from Amazon and waiting for it to arrive!
My bedroom needs a revamping for sure!
I love that you love this, too! Looking forward to updating our guest room!
Fun giveaway! We remodeled and our family room needs help!
I’m tired of my very feminine pink bedroom. I want a change, but I could use some inspiration.
This looks so great! I would love to have this book!
Definitely my basement. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d love to get the bedrooms up to scratch. And also the knick-knacks in every room sorted – just enough to look beautiful but no more… a challenge! Thanks for the chance to win this gorgeous book xo
My living room definitely needs some planning help/guidance. It’s driving me nuts, LOL
I would use it to help plan out my daughters shared bedroom. I feel like there are multiple things tripping me up in that space and I want it to function and FEEL good for them! Thanks for the opportunity!
My living room. My husband redid our home 15 years ago and bumped out the wall. I have yet to figure it out yet. I need to make it ours..
This seems so fun!!
oh, kitchen, kitchen, kitchen! ideas are spinning. must control…
the kitchen!
Would love to give this planner a try!
This book would be perfect for my daughter! She is buying her first house with her husband! (I might have to sneak a peak first, though!)
THis is just so cool
I would love to use the DIY Home Planner to finally remodel our kitchen.
Oh this would be amazing! I always have big plans to redo a room, but then I get caught up on details and eventually give up. Having something to not only keep me organized, but also help with those details would be INCREDIBLE!
I have been looking for something like this. We have a new (to us) house and I’m trying to create a cohesive decor and keep track of everything that we do. (Before I forget what color I painted a bedroom.
Thanks for the chance to win-great giveaway! Our basement needs a lot of work….
My living room for sure. It is such an open area that I am having a really hard time with it.
I’ve just recently started reading your blog. I enjoy the ideas you have posted.
I would love to plan out my mudroom/craft area!!
I would love to plan my kitchen and guest bath. The house is 12 years old and it needs a facelift. 🙂
Would love to win this book!
We just moved and haven’t finished our master bedroom!!!!
Great to see the continuous work. It’s so hard to keep going through the whole house but you are doing a great job!
I think our kitchen or master bedroom could use some extra help.
This is exactly what I need! I have sooooooo many photos pinned, but when it comes to choosing things, I suffer from paralysis by analysis!
living room
Our playroom needs the most work right now. It needs to be a comfy place for kids to play but also for adults to hang out in, and most of all, something pretty. It’s between our kitchen and dining room!
Great giveaway! The planner looks amazing! Our living room space is high on my list to update.
So stoked to have this opportunity–THANK YOU!
I need a little help organizing my everything I hate clutter but live in a small house

Bathrooms for sure
I landed on this site because of a buzzfeed link from 2016! And Wow, this Home Planner couldn’t be possibly be more for me!! I’m in the process of planning to remodel our kitchen next fall. Couldn’t have seen this at a better time! Thanks!
the closets in my house
Would love to freshen up my husband’s home office!
Thank you for the chance at this great looking planner!
I would like to plan my computer room better.
I really need inspiration in my combined living dining area as the are narrow and small and I love new ideas to inspire me to do more diy. Whenever I get itchy hands its either paint or needlework.
I think the DIY home planner would help me plan my living room out!
I need to plan for my family room.
my garage needs some help
This looks like a great book to have…everything in our house needs a refresh!
Would love more help planning our master bedroom. We recently moved to a new place and I just cannot figure out what to do with the space sine we will only be staying here a little over a year.
I definitely need help redecorating my living room!
Our living room is always in a state of transition. It seems that we are moving the TV, moving the couches, or some other form of rearranging every few months. We could use a plan that works and that we can stick with.
I’d like to plan a few rooms; however, the kitchen is at the top of my list. Everything is just randomly stuck in places – I can never find anything and nothing is organized. I think this book will help with several rooms in my house as a way to put my ideas together. Awesome giveaway, by the way! 🙂
Tough to say what one room as I would love to improve every room of our house but if I could only pick one, I would say our office room needs the biggest makeover and improvement.
My bathroom would be the part of the home that I would like to plan better.
