Last week, we were thrilled to share our primary bath reveal! After waiting for so long, it feels so good.
Here, you may have noticed our easy peasy towel area, where we’re able to hang all the things. It was the best solution for corralling, and we love the way it turned out! {Be sure to check out the entire tour here!} But I loved accentuating this wall with these simple flea market finds. Sometimes, I love sharing the simple, interesting things that make a house a home. This is one of those little projects.
I purchased them over a year ago, after feeling drawn to them at a random booth. Sometimes I snatch things up as fun accents, having no idea what I’ll actually do with them until the time comes.
See: Stained glass windows in our kitchen + our daughter’s bathroom as a prime example. But I always seem to figure it out…
But that’s a total side tangent I’ll get back to at the bottom of this post. Here’s how they started: Yes, these were antique frames. Yes, I painted them. Yes, someone somewhere is clutching their pearls.
They were actually pretty damaged, and something about adding some color to them gave them more of a contemporary, quirky look. I was really after that fantastic needlepoint inside, after all. They just needed a little TLC.
When I pulled everything apart, these were in great condition. Who knows how old they are? I think I paid fifteen for these at the flea market. But aren’t they fantastic?
So the back had these tiny nails that I pulled out one by one with my pliers.
And then removed everything, including the glass, so I could clean them up.
There’s just something fun about needlepoint. I think that maybe these remind me a little of my childhood. I’m not sure, but lots of reasons I’m fond of them, I guess. They are fun.
So once they were cleaned up, I grabbed my handy dandy FrogTape. I definitely wanted to keep those edges.
And when it was applied, I just used some blue paint I had.
When the blue was dry, I grabbed a Q-Tip + some Rub n’ Buff.
I always keep various art supplies on hand, and this is one of them. It was satisfying to give those tired edges a fresh look.
When they were dry, I reassembled and they were ready to hang!
I just thought they were so fun. His and hers sections.
And here we are! So easy.
You never know what you’ll find at the local flea market!
And because it’s almost flea market season {maybe not but we’re determined for it to be, anyway… I’m in full on denial that spring is NOT right around the corner since all the lucky sunshine we’ve had has seen me through this winter} check out some of our favorite posts:
