One of the questions that we get the most, is how do we add electricity to our Handmade Hideaway?
But let me back up for a second, in case you’re not familiar. We have absolutely loved our second handmade hideaway. We have the whole shebang here in this post, with both versions and all the info you could possibly need: The ultimate Treehouse Guide. And we’ll definitely be adding this to the list. Because it’s our very favorite element.
The one thing that people want to know, is how do you get electricity to the inside?
The hideaway really lights up our home at night, and we love having it accessible in the middle of our yard. But sometimes, it’s kinda hard to run an extension cord all the way across your yard for electricity. Not to mention, inconvenient and not very cute. And what if you forget about it and run over it with a lawn mower? Fail. {And definitely not safe.}
So here’s our very favorite practical tool.
Total side note, but can our kids stop growing now?
This Greenworks® 300 watt battery operated power inverter is the best little tool on the planet.
Seriously, it’s our very favorite. You just hook it right up to whatever source you were looking to provide power, and enjoy.
It’s 300 watts for continuous output and even comes with two USB outlets to power Phones, tablets, laptops, and more.
What?! Seriously, our power went out the other morning and we were ready to bust it out for our computers, so we could work.
It includes a 120-volt power outlet to power up televisions, lights, and the possibilities are endless. It’s perfect for all things tailgating or anything you could possibly think of in your very own back yard. We simply hook it up to our power cord, and it’s all things light and bright on our property at night!
It comes with this fabulously simple power button and a handle for easy carrying. Use it with your Greenworks Tools battery, and you’re done.
{It also helps that it comes with a 4-year warranty!}
So the next time you need anything for all things tailgating or just a little power for your back yard, be sure to check out this fabulous power inverter! We definitely adore all things Greenworks Tools and think this is just perfect for our back yard.
So that’s how we do all things electricity at The Handmade Hideaway.
Hurray for simple, practical solutions that offer so much more.

Is the light on the top floor āporchā hardwired? Or does it plug into this as well somehow? Thank you!
Hi! It plugs in – we drilled a hole in the floor and it runs through to the other lights.
How can I purchase one of these gadgets for electrics in my shed??
hi! Follow the link here to buy on their site when it comes back in stock, or at lowe’s, – the link is also there. https://www.greenworkstools.com/300-watt-battery-operated-power-inverter
Hi Ashley, how long can you light up the hideaway on a charged battery? This looks really cool, thanks for sharing! Iām now considering it for our barn!
Hey,
We actually haven’t done a timed test on it, but I did leave it on for the night the other day when I had some guys over for a fire. I think a lot of it would depend on what you are trying to power. Either way we’ve found it as a great alternative and especially great for tailgating and camping. They do have a graphic on their site towards the bottom that shows some testing if you scroll down. I hope that helps some.
