The always amazing Michelle from Iron & Twine is back with a super fun idea for Easter… the whole family can participate in! I simply love this idea. So without further ado…
I love Spring and all the colors it brings. So, to celebrate and decorate for the upcoming Easter Holiday, I made a super simple table runner using white kraft paper and tissue paper!

Paper decorations are hands down some of my favorite. They’re typically very cheap and easy to customize for any occasion. Should spills or messes occur, it’s no big deal, making paper ‘linens’ perfect for kid parties or large gatherings. To make this Easter Table Runner you’ll need the following:
White Kraft Paper, cut to size for your table
Colorful Tissue Paper ~ I bought 2 packs from the Dollar Tree
Pencil
Scissors
Staples (not necessary but very handy)
Sponge or Sponge Brush

Start by pulling which colors of tissue paper you plan to use. Once you have your color palette chosen, cut out a simple egg shape from white paper ~ you’ll then use this to trace onto each tissue paper. HELPFUL TIP: Cutting tissue paper can be tricky because it’s so delicate. To help minimize tearing and to make the cutting out eggs process go much faster, take a couple sheets of tissue paper, fold over until you have a rectangle, then staple the edges (photo above right). Once your little ‘pouches’ are stabled together, trace your egg shape, then cut out. This allows you to cut out a lot of eggs at once while also helping maintain the egg shape. Once all your colors are cut out, they’ll look like this:

Now it’s time to get your table runner started. Depending on the surface you’re working on, you may want to lay down some brown paper bags first.

Now for the fun part! To apply your eggs, first apply a thin coat of mod podge to your paper runner using a sponge or sponge brush, then stick on a single tissue paper egg. To ensure the edges stay down go over each egg again with another thin coat of mod podge. Work in small sections as the mod podge dries quickly. As for creating a pattern, there’s really no wrong way to do it. We just randomly alternated colors and angles and occasionally overlapped eggs as we went.

Keep going until your runner is finished and then allow it to dry completely. To make the napkin ring below, I simply printed blue stripes onto computer paper, cut to size, then taped.
