It’s no secret around here that we’re kind of smitten with all things cleaning and useful around the home. We always love sharing new tips, and learning from our awesome readers {that’s you guys!} too. Anything remotely useful, to make life a little easier in the cleaning and home maintenance department is always right up our alley. The whole taking-care-of-your-home thing kind of goes hand in hand with the design of it all, and we like to keep it real. Today we thought we’d break it down with some of our favorite P&G products, for different needs around the home!
For Heavy Duty Clean Up:
It’s no secret that we’re obsessed with the Swiffer Sweeper, Swiffer Vac, and Duster. We talk about them all the time. The kids even fight over who gets to use it when it comes to maintaining all things hideaway. It’s kind of how I haven’t lost my mind with two giant 70 pound dogs in our house – more on that below. {Hint: I can make another dog with all the hair they constantly lose.}
But we’ve used these three things for years on heavy duty tasks, too. Like prepping the walls before we’re ready to add paint {after sanding them or just a general clean up} with the projects that we take on.
In this pic, I’d just had eye surgery, and these two munchkins were posing with me. Side note: Are they really this big now? #holdme #maketimestop #timeforanotherbaby #jk #Illbeahotgrandmainsteadwhodoesyoga
And even more recently in our basement renovation, we wouldn’t have made it without their products. I kept wiping down all the things, trying to get rid of all the dust, and there was just no comparison with the duster and sweeper at my side to take out the heavy duty mess that construction leaves behind. The dust can be one of the hardest things to contain, and Swiffer did the job. These are our absolute favorites.
To Keep It Smelling Fresh:
We’ve shared how to keep your house clean with two giant dogs. We love our fur babies and they’re the best. But they come with their own set of challenges. For instance: in the winter months, they can be a nightmare with the feet-in-the-mud thing. They have to be cleaned up every time they come inside, and the dirt clots that get caught in their giant paws are no laughing matter. Then there’s the whole fur loss thing. Seriously would they look that odd shaved? Kidding not kidding. Pet ownership can be challenging. Swiffer keeps it manageable – so the whole swiffer sweeper thing can also go here.
But sometimes, keeping our house smelling fresh can be a challenge with these two.
Enter our new favorite, not-so-secret weapon: Febreze One.
It’s got the freshest, lightest scent ever… and it covers up all those doggy smells. It’s the first air freshener that contains no heavy perfumes, dyes or aerosols. It’s also the first and only air freshener spray that provides a light mist in refillable packaging. And did you know, it has a uniqueformula that gently cleans away the odors in the air and on fabrics? You pull the trigger and it lightly mists – we love the bamboo scent for fresh and light.
Our rugs are eternally grateful. And our house doesn’t smell like dogs or musty or {see: any of the accompanying scents that come with said dogs}.
For All Things Maintenance:
It’s no secret around here that we love tile and beautiful installations of it.
Some people are afraid of different elements, because that means they have to clean it. If it exists, yes, you have to clean it. I always say everything comes with its pros and cons. This is worth it to us. Pretty tile in a bathroom is worth it.
You can get away with a lot in a bathroom, but over time, buildup happens. So our favorite weapon of choice for all things maintenance? Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I think that we could list a bajillion uses right here, alone for the magic eraser… but hard to clean spots and maintaining the shower… are our absolute favorite.

We keep our black lab shaved. We live in Mississippi, so you know how hot it can get here, starting as early as April all the way through October. We have her shaved every 5-6 weeks, and it’s a game changer. She loves it, and we stay sane. We start in April or so and do the last shave in early November and have a thin puffer vest type jacket that wraps around her back while her hair grows back in over winter. I say go for it with your two!

We did it with our first and she was a lab/red heeler mix, so it worked out great! It totally helped with the hair. Our other two, I’m afraid their tails would look weird? They would need something for the winter, too. I am totally tempted to consult a doggie hair stylist- their hair is driving me mad 😂

I’ve never used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser but I would love to know how you use it to maintain a shower. Thank you!
