We hope this post finds you amazingly rested, well, enjoying the holidays… and that you had a wonderful time with loved ones and friends.
We were a little overdue for another party in your pocket series, and just wanted to pop in to share a quick little set up with some free and easy new years ideas. It’s a simple, quaint little get together we had planned with friends!
And this time, we thought we’d mix it up and dine ‘al fresco’ compliments of the living room. {It sounds fancy, anyway.}
We literally set the table with a few mismatched plates, and brought in a few fun printables to get the mood going for all things auld lang syne!
Confession: I once thought it was Old Ang Zye.
And I still had to look it up for this post. True story.
This is one of our favorite quotes, as we’re looking optimistically into the coming of all things 2015… and you can download it here! {Sans watermark} Just click the link, download, and print!
We brought in a few cozy pillows, and what would a little new years celebration be without the mirrorball?
Some simple carnations were brought in to accent the table in various vessels to dress things up – It’s amazing how this simple flower can feel so special when they’re all corralled to little bouquets of one color.
I totally did this on purpose to reflect my elegant awesomeness.
JK. It’s all the grocery store had in stock for all things last minute, and sometimes you just roll with it.
We brought in a little sparkle with some tassels {made via this tutorial – the felt version} from some metallic paper to drape on straws and place settings.
We used these little new years printables for writing down new years’ resolutions {you could use them for menu planners or name tags… the possibilities are up to you!}
This place setting can be used for saving spaces or just adding a little festive fun.

I added some sparkle with these test tubes topped with glitter tape and two different types of star confetti. I love the touch of unique they provided for our little party.
Pssst – these are made of glass so if you want something for the kiddos, I ordered these just because {when they saw what I did for the adults-they were begging}, with clear ones here. Yay for little chemists!
We added our little confetti tubes to name tags at the table.
Three cheers for the new year!
Just a fun, casual no pressure way to celebrate with style!
We wish the very best for you guys this year, with a fresh start and clean slate. There’s something a little magical about it… a little reminiscent.
We’re truly looking forward to the new year.
As always, let us know if you use it! We’d love to hear. Have an inspired day!

Looks like a really fun time!
Thanks for sharing the Neil Gaiman quote — I love it.
Printed it and will prominently display it in my ‘creative space’ at home.
Happy New Year to you guys!
May 2015 be a year of magic and dreams for all of you!

P.S. Thanks for setting a place for me at your table. I just noticed the “Michael” place card. Woot!
P.P.S. If that’s really NOT a place for me but rather a place for Michael Wurm, Jr. Well then….I might just pout and scuff my shoe against your nice floor. (Just sayin’)

Ha! I would LOVE to pack my family into the Pathfinder and head to the tropical temps of Alabama. You betcha!
It’s 23°F here in Northern Indiana today. And snowing. So, yeah, we would be happy to find warmer weather.
We’ll bring some pie [coconut cream and cherry (and whatever you guys like)]. Just have some hot, strong coffee (and cream, no sugar) for me. Hot tea for my wife. And a cold glass of milk for College Boy and Tall Child. And…we can’t leave the dog at home, so he’ll be coming along. Riley is a sweet Weimaraner — you’ll never know he’s there. #bigfatlie
I promise it will be an unforgettable adventure. I’ll bring my camera along with my new 55mm lens (LOVE THAT THING!!!!) to capture all the fun.
And, I promise: we’ll take off our shoes so we don’t scuff up your floor.

{All my best to you and Jamin!}

Our first home was a Victorian, we rented out main floor and lived in the attic. Having 30 people in the attic for Christmas dinner was tight but I put the kids on pillows on the floor just like your party and told them it was Asian Restaurant Chic! Thanks for the memory, your party is lovely.
