Progress… progress… progress.
I don’t even remember where we left you last, because everything feels like a whirlwind.
I mean, everything.
We’re simply not going to know what to do with ourselves when we’re in this house. I don’t know… maybe focus on growing our business? Getting homework done without hauling it thirty minutes every afternoon? Doesn’t that sound nice? ;} Little things.
But the appliances are in.
We’ve come. So. Far.
Like, I’m the dork who played house the other day with her mother, and pretended like I was cooking. And I make people stand in front of the fridge. It’s magical. It has a magical light. Because the light fades when you open and close it… and I make people stand there for a full affect.
I’m so fancccyyyyy.
I’m deliriously happy.
I’m just thrilled to have a fridge where the kids can self serve their water.
Don’t worry… there won’t be such a gap once the hardwoods are installed. Which is today!!!
While you’re reading this. We’re installing our new Pergo flooring. And I’m doing dust angels on top. In sheer happy.
I even pieced together a few so you could see them for a photo op.
They’ve been acclimating for a good week now, and are ready to go.
It’s to that point, y’all. I even hugged our electrician the other day.
I’m officially the crazy lady who does dust angels on the hardwoods and opens and closes the magical refrigerator and hugs her electrician.
I asked the HVAC guys if I could have one of their head to toe suits. They laughed. I was serious. Because Halloween.
But these ovens. Yes, please. YES. YAAAASSSSSSSS.
We’re so glad we went with the built in cabinets option… we love having two side by side on the bottom which is what we really wanted for cooking, but needed the counter space when we weren’t using the cooktop. So we feel like this little custom addition for our cabinets gives it an extra oomph.
But you may have noticed that our doors are back. And our hardware is on. And I keep turning the knob and then closing it.
Because I’m two.
The hood came. And then the hood went back. It was wrong… I haven’t even covered everything that’s gone wrong with this house. It’s been Murphy’s Law. But it’ll be back soon.
And in the meantime…
Bubye Big Bertha, RIP. Because the new HVAC is happening.
No more worries with breathing in all the bad stuff. Or the heat going out. Or all our allergies acting up because of bad stuff in the very old {original to the house} ventilation system. They’ve been hard at work, and it’s reassuring to know that we have something to rely on.
This one was definitely on its last leg. They even told us not to turn on the heat. {Cue laughy hysterical emoji}.
So this will be our new crawlspace entrance… and we’ve moved the new unit under the house and around the side.
Basically, away from the pool for entertaining {OH EM GEE the old one was loud} and that clown-in-a-crawlspace area in our now-garage-soon-to-be-gathering-room will be no more. But on the outside. Winning.
Until a person crawls in and lives in our crawlspace. What.
I’m not sure who was more creeped out by it… the kids or me.
Also, I keep waiting for a body to pop up. Or maybe just cash. No one has to know. Shhhh.
Which may be our inspector from the first time we looked at the house, because the HVAC guys found this underneath the other day.
In plain sight. Via Jamin’s insta:
Yeeeaaahhhhh thats a support with no support.
We kept wondering why the floor was sloping.
I don’t even want to talk about it.
In the meantime…
Speaking of HVAC, this little vent couldn’t be moved after all. It shall henceforth be known as the little vent that couldn’t. The idea was to take it up the stairs and drop it from the ceiling. But alas, there is no space in that attic to make the turn.
So the vent shall stay… which is fine. Because it was either that, or lose the linen closet. And not only is that extra storage, but I’d already painted and trimmed that sucka and that was what was most important in the moment.
Priorities.
At least it’s not right at the front door…
Don’t those stairs look good though?
And in the meantime, the basement looks like this. It doesn’t look like much. But for a while, we couldn’t even walk because it was where we were storing all our supplies and pieces that were going in the redo. Basically, we’re thrilled because we can see the floors.
Which is a great sign because that means they’re slowly being installed. At one point, that white wood almost touched the ceiling. Also, I plank in my sleep. No. Really. The other night, I dreamed I was fitting pieces of wood together, perfectly. And then on repeat until I wanted to wake up.
I hope to finish painting the upstairs today.
LAWT help MEHHHHHHH.
My sweet mom and dad have been an absolute Godsend and keep coming over to help. We’re so grateful.
And tile starts today on that backsplash. {I’m jinxing myself by proclaiming this, because I think it does…}
And the hood should be back Monday.
And here’s another look at the microwave.
We’re adoring this sink/faucet combo.
Oooooh and a sneaky peeky of our lights.
Which yes, are still covered in plastic because dust.
And we love those beams.
All the elements coming together with the countertops are kind of rocking our faces off.
Wish us luck on that painting.
And Hardwoods.
Here’s to moving in a week or so…
We hope.
Thanks for sticking with us guys.
Have an inspired day!
I can’t believe how fast your cabinets and countertops and appliances all came together! I’m sure it wasn’t fast enough for ya’ll but seems really quick to me. Looks awesome! Love the cabinet choice. Can you share what company you used for the cabinets? I live within a couple hours drive of Nashville area.
I think I just drooled at my desk
HAHA! Thank you for the drool, Michelle. It makes us feel like maybe we’ve done something right after all this drama! ;}
I love it….All of it…..but especially those beautiful leaded windows ?
Thank you so much, Mandy!
Everything looks great!! Happy for you ?
Thanks, Melissa! ;}
I get so excited when I see a new progress post on your house. I know that I am going to get to laugh and I love to see how things are coming together. It is a looking amazing!
Thank you for sharing!
HAHA! Thank you Susan. Your sweet comments make them worth writing. ;}
It all looks fantastic. So impressed. Can you tell me how long the wall of cabinets is across the back? and the length of the island? I hadnt thought of a double over like taht and just wondering if a similar layout would fit in my space.
thanks!
Thanks Jamie! We were kind of obsessed with the idea of a double oven and just had to make them fit because it’s so handy to have two. The cabinets on the back are 230 inches and the island is 120. I hope this helps!
Wow! It looks amazing!!! So excited for you guys
Thank you so much Elizabeth!
Things are looking AH-MAZING! My hubby and I are considering a very similar take-out-all-the-walls reno to our main living/dining/kitchen area, so I’m so anxious to see how yours turns out. So far its beautiful!!!
Thank you Kim! We’re anxious too! HAHAHA – just ready to be in. ;} I can’t wait to see what you do with yours! Keep us posted!
Oh. My. Goodness.!!!
Looking great!
Everything is looking beautiful. So happy for you and your family that you can be in your home for Thanksgiving. How very appropriate 🙂
I really like the hardware on the cabinet doors! The cabinet color is awesome too.
Wow. Just, wow. It’s looking SO amazing!! That kitchen….be still my heart.
Love everything about this! The beams are amazing, all the lighting fixtures are stunning, the way the cook top and double ovens are situated is genius, and the stained glass makes everything feel so homey! I’ve got a lot of new ideas now!
It is just a crying shame that you aren’t excited! ha ha ha
It’s fabulous already.
Can you tell me where you purchased you your back splash tiles?
i keep scrolling through all of it because it’s so gorgeous!!
One question – what is the width on the planks? we were wanting to do our living room ceiling in planks and we thought it looked too busy when they were skinnier. Not with the big ones!! good thinking!
Hey Tasha! thank you! We love it. They’re called 12 inch primed planks- they’re actually 11.25 inch. You can special order them and they’re actually MDF. we will have a full on post coming soon about them… We were sore for a while but it was absolutely worth it!
