We’re thrilled to be back with another real estate post today, and thought we’d tackle this little topic: How to find a real estate agent in a new town! We’re so excited to share our experience. If you’re in the market now or will be in the future, we want to provide you with valuable information for navigating the real estate market. And whether here in Nashville or throughout the country, we can help you make that next purchase. So let’s dive in, shall we? Today is for our readers, everywhere.
Over the last few months, we’ve had a few readers write in and ask for specific help with their real estate needs. Some said they wished that they were moving to Nashville so we could be their agent, while others simply asked how to find an agent. So today we thought we’d tackle the difficult questions of how to find a Real Estate agent in a new town. Because to be honest, the task can be daunting.
We know this can be a scary process because, as we’ve written about before, it’s one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make. Just as it is in any industry, not Real Estate agents are created equal. The industry is saturated, so it helps to have a little discernment when searching for the right one. To be completely honest, a majority of agents have no business being in the industry because they simply don’t know or understand homes. Yep, I just wrote that. Here’s a fun fact to illustrate my point: the national test rate for licensing hovers around 50%, and you only need 70% to pass! (I passed with a 98%, if that helps at all *add tooth sparkles here*.)
Let me be clear when I say we’re not here to dump on the industry because there are some amazing agents out there. A lot of them. You just need to know how to find them, and we want to help you. {Because finding the right one is a little more than Jimmy Bob’s cousin’s Aunt Felicia Rose down the road.}
Let’s dive in.
Step 0: How to find a Real Estate agent in a new town
I label it step zero because it’s the thing you should do before you start looking for an agent.
Reach out to me. Of all the clients who sent us emails, we were able to connect them with agents that we know and trust in other cities. So, this is officially step zero because there is no real work for you. Just reach out to us, say hi, and let us know where you’re moving. We have been at this housing game for a hot minute, so we probably know an agent in the town you’re moving to. If we don’t, we can help you locate and vet the right potential agent for you.
So step zero: reach out to us by emailing jamin @ thehandmadehome .net
We’d love to connect with you and help you in the journey.
