lundy pass phase 2

If you remember this space, we were honored to work with these sweet clients and help update their already lovely home to make their house more of a retreat for them. We started out with their primary suite, and the rest of this house took on a bit of a take on the classic “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” situation, as we tackled each space in phases that worked for them. So without further ado, the rest of this project: Lundy Pass Phase 2!

First up: The foyer area. They were ready to utilize more storage in their home, with an area that didn’t work well for their family. Two closets in the foyer hallway made zero sense without a drop zone. So we were happy to create one for them.

The before-and-after is a bit of a throwback to this project, where we also replaced two closets with a more locker-like area. A similar solution worked for this family, as well! They’re thrilled with their new space. The colors are now oh-so-soothing on the eyes, and we love that darker contrasting trim.

Replacing the stair treads, flooring, and banister also gave the house more character. We love the white oak look that runs throughout their home now.

This new view with their lockers into the kitchen make for a great glimpse on the way those colors come together!

Looking up, adding a beautiful new Kichler light to their foyer entryway changed the way the entire space feels.

In their living room, the space was perfectly cozy. But they were looking for more functionality in their rooms. This is a situation where adding a wall actually helped differentiate spaces and define their uses.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate what intentional changes can really do for a space. Before, the room was a little shorter visually. Changing things like the fireplace design to draw the eye up, unifying the paint, and raising the curtain placement definitely changed the entire vibe of the space.

The icing on the cake is the gorgeous white oak ceiling beams built by our people, as well as this Kichler chandelier, which adds so much character and draws the eye up. New windows from Window World, to help with energy efficiency, really opened up the space as well.

Adding this wall back in really simplified the way the entire space feels. Calm was the name of the game, and we love how it simplified everything they do here.

Their home showcases what they love throughout: This room subtly highlights gardening and music, and definitely has a retreat vibe… which was the ultimate goal. They both have fun hobbies and their spaces reflect that. There’s something fascinating to me about adults with healthy hobbies… I find it refreshing. More people need them.

This beautiful framed piece is from Sage + Rose Prints. They offer some amazing pieces, framed, at great prices. This sweet family loved this piece because it reminded them of their favorite fly fishing spots. Be sure to check out their gorgeous options on their awesome site!

This piece is a family heirloom, and we love the way that it works within their space!

Here’s another angle of that before…

What a difference changing the windows can make. Also, because we see this a lot in our line of work, and we love helping people do this, you can totally cover that arch. Doing so actually did a lot for the entire vibe of their space.

Here’s another glimpse of that before from the entryway of the room.

And the beautiful after, once again. Soothing tones for the win. If you noticed, they even changed their front door for a great update.

Next up: This adorable powder bath. It just needed a little love to bring it some character. Here’s a quick snap I grabbed of the before.

This Kichler Vanity light is one of my faves, and it plays so nicely in the space. We added wallpaper and replaced the pedestal sink with a vanity to provide a little storage here. A new faucet + mirror definitely helped update the space as well! We love adding handles to toilets for a fresh update – it’s like jewelry in a space.

This wallpaper, though.

Here you can snag a glimpse of that Kichler chandelier as well. Definitely another one of my faves with definite 20s vibes. It added so much personality.

For the kitchen, it was simple updates to tie in with the rest of the house. They’d renovated their kitchen years ago, {before they heard about us, of course ;}} but she was never happy with the way the tones in the cabinetry turned out, as it felt too pink with the undertones. We decided to tone down the kitchen and incorporate color in simple ways, while utilizing what they already had. Sometimes it’s the simple changes that make a big difference!

The flooring was unified throughout the house, so adding it to the kitchen definitely calmed everything down. The new fridge from Lowe’s was a must-have, as it was time for an update. They’re thrilled with their latest addition!

The doors + trim were simplified throughout. Sometimes, it’s the little details that make a big difference.

We just love this fresh new color!

So on the living room side, we added a wall. Previously, the space looked like this: a small area just off the kitchen, but the kitchen area was divided into a “small formal dining room” type of setup. On this side, we removed the wall so that the space could flow more… I’ll show more of that space below.

Another glimpse of how changing out the windows truly transformed these views! And the colors really brought it together.

Adding this Kichler Chandelier definitely helped anchor the space. We love the way it changed the entire feel of the room!

Here’s another glimpse of that before. They weren’t really sure what to do with the space, and needed something more intentional.

These clients were looking for a space to gather, have their morning coffee, and enjoy the area as a family. We decided to use this space as a library for their large collection of books, which was inherited from a family member who recently passed away. It gave the space a purpose and a way to use what they already had. We love it when shelves are used for books.

Here’s another glimpse of that before…

And after, as viewed from the kitchen space now. The column in place was necessary for support, but definitely opened up the room while adding character.

Another testament to taking those windows to the top + simplifying those views. Again, hurray for Window World!

He enjoys fly fishing, and she makes the flies, which is an art form in its own right. In this space, they have room for many purposes, including his guitar.

Once again, Kichler lights added character with sconces and this semi-flush light. The custom built-ins are gorgeous, with white oak as the backdrop, in contrast to the fun green!

We just love this view.

Upstairs, we redid their son’s hallway bathroom. It was time for some sensible solutions to help simplify their space.

We love the after here!

A new vanity paired with fresh tile + Kichler Ali Sconces + Malen Pendant brought the space back to life.

Something else to simplify the space: They felt this door from a joining bedroom was in the way more than anything, on both sides of the wall. So removing it freed up space for a longer vanity and more room to access the closet. Also, it just looks better.

The shower area was a simple drop-in tub. So this, of course, was my favorite part…

As always, stripes win.

We love the way it all came together for a sophisticated space that will grow with their son and serve their visiting daughter + other guests well, too.

It’s such a welcoming space!

Thanks so much for dropping by for this little tour today. We love the way their house has gotten quite the refresh with intentional changes and personal finds to tell the story of who they are! Gorgeous details, if we do say so ourselves. We hope that every day feels like a retreat for this special family.
