Mother’s day is just around the corner. And it always sneaks up on us.
The story of our life… with practically every other holiday.
So we put together this little grouping of printables, and paired them with some homemade wildflower bombs.
Wildflower bombs are exactly what they sound like: biodegradable little balls filled with seeds that you can use to grow wildflowers in just about any area. People use them for “Guerrilla gardening” in otherwise ugly or hard to reach places, and they make the perfect little party favors and fun handouts for friends. The possibilities for these things are kinda endless, in spreading happiness with seeds. But today we thought they’d be great for celebrating moms.
Here’s what you’ll need: {Just a heads up, this project is messy and may be best outside with kiddos… in retrospect. Yay retrospect!}
• Organic plant food {aka fertilizer} • wildflower seed packets {we used about eight, and these easily yielded about 40 little “bombs”} • Air Dry Clay {any color you wish – we used white} • glass bowls for mixing • paper surface to work on • printables {below}
Mix up your plant food – 2 parts to 1 part air dry clay. We just eyeballed, but if it gets to crumbly, add a little more clay. We simply mixed with our hands until it was good and blended.
Also, these things smell a bit, so be ready ;} We tried not to focus on that one, and think about the end result.
(Happy Mother’s Day Mom! Look… a ball of poo! – printables for that one coming right up)
Not really, but kind of. Shhhh. Gather the clay + fertilizer in your hands, and mash it together.
Then scoop up a little with the tip of one of your clay/plant food concoctions, and blend it together with your fingers until you’ve made a little ball.
Let it sit out for a few days, and air dry.
Tada! You have these little ‘wildflower bombs’.
I put these little guys into some small white paper baggies we had, and then whipped up some printables to use with this.
It’s a sweet, instant, sentimental little gift.
We took a cheap little clay container and painted it white, and then embellished it with these strips in our pattern.
And placed the white paper baggies inside. Then some 5 x 7 cards that simply print and fold over, with a tag that says “thank you for helping me grow” – and a cute sticker to seal it up with love.
We even made up a sweet “grandma” version, as well.
We love some sentimental printables, so we came up with a questionnaire for any littles who want to, to fill in for mother’s day.
{Grandma and Mom versions, also}
Just a sweet little package for mother’s day!
Want your printables? Just click and select what you want – we recommend card stock for sweet keepsakes: {cards: card, cardgma all about sheets: allaboutmom, allaboutgrandma tags: thank you for helping me grow, strips: strips + stickers: stickers – just print the stickers on an adhesive backing, or normal paper, glued to envelope}
As always, let us know if you use these + enjoy!
We wanna see your freebies! Just tag your printables with #thehandmadehomefreebies on instagram for us to see! We’d love to feature you.
