Last week, we were so thrilled to share our little space for the kiddos in the new house.
We’ve come a long way, baby.
Yes, I keep writing this. Because we have. It’s blowing my mind, really.
Just that we’re here. And that this was doable. And that the kids love their space.
Phew.
And as promised, we’re back with some sources for the sleeping room!
Floors:
The floors are what we used throughout the house, and we’ll be discussing more of this later – they’re prefinished, and 100 percent real wood. So we’ll be covering why we decided to go this route, and how to install them, amongst other things.
But we love love LOVE the Pergo floors in Flint Maple and the character it brings to every space. They’re truly gorgeous.
Rug:
The rug is from Urban Outfitters.
Paint:
We decided to shiplap all of our ceilings throughout the house, and took on the work ourselves. We have a tutorial coming up for the full how to and all the details, pros and cons… next week. The colors from the space were pulled from the HGTVHOME™ by Sherwin-Williams Collection + You can view them all here!

Trim: HGTVHOME™ by Sherwin-Williams Pure White HGSW4006
Walls: HGTVHOME™ by Sherwin-Williams Nebulous White HGSW4057
Doors: HGTVHOME™ by Sherwin-Williams Diverse Beige HGSW3086
Lighting:
The ceiling light is something I’d had my heart set on for at least a year. When it took us a while to sell our house, I had it secretly pinned and I would go back every now and again to make sure it was still available because it was love, and it would be mine. Imagine how delighted we were when the kids decided it was the best thing ever and called it their ‘Death Star’ light?
Death star goes to the beach, maybe.
The closet lights are our favorite little addition – from Lamps Plus.
We added them to both the closets when we knocked through the walls, and upstairs hallway.
Not only can we now see {those bulbs actually put out a great amount of light!} It also added a lot of character where it was once missing.
All baskets have been collected over time… some from Aiden’s nursery, so we’ve had them for a while. Baskets are my secret weapon for all the things. We love having them in this space .
The reading lights we mounted over their beds are from West Elm. We love them, and the kids do, too. We scored them on sale this summer, and they plug into the wall so we can move them when we wish. The kids can swivel the heads, and they act as a nice soft reading light at night.
Side Tables:
The tables are our Jack and Jill round metal tables.
Available in The Handmade Home Studio!
Barn Doors + Barn Door Hardware:
The barn doors were built by us, and we have a tutorial coming up soon.
The hardware/pull and mounting system is kind of what makes them amazing, though. From the fabulous Artisan Hardware. We adore their new pre-hung system and if you’ve ever been nervous about hanging a barn door, this definitely simplifies the process, and adds a lot of fun character.
We totally recommend checking it out after doing it both ways in our home. We’ve lived with their product for a few years now and it holds up wonderfully. We just keep coming back to them because we love their style.
Doorknob:
We decided to mix our metals for the home, but used oil rubbed bronze throughout on knobs.
They’re from our favorite all time hardware source: D. Lawless Hardware. We’ve been loyal stalker fans of theirs for almost a decade now. We love them so. Whenever we’re looking for hardware for anything… from furniture to doors to kitchen cabinets… we check with them, first. They usually have just what we’re looking for and at an amazing price.
Star Chart:
The star chart is a vintage reproduction / limited run from Robert’s Maps. One of our favorite etsy stores. I almost don’t want to tell you because his products are that fantastic + it’s a nice secret to keep. HA! ;} But he’s a small biz just like us and great sources are worth sharing… bookmark this one.
Window Treatments:
We knew we wanted some simple, light linen throughout the house for our window treatments. We hate to cover those windows completely, and knew that some bright, airy fabric would do just the trick and add a bit of simple sophistication.
We adore this linen from Online Fabric Store as a great source to do just the trick! It has a great body to it, and blocks just enough light without being too heavy while also offering privacy. Winning. We didn’t even use liner. It strikes a nice balance between keeping things open, and doing their job well. This, my friends, is a tough balance to strike.
We found a winner.
Bedding –
Mattresses:
Our kids had never owned their own mattresses before. We’ve gotten by with hand-me-downs for years. But they were old and creaky and Malone’s even had a little spring that kept popping out and while some friends handed them down, we weren’t even sure how old they were. So it was definitely time for something nice and fresh.
We’ll talk more about these when we discuss how we put the beds together, but oh my gosh, y’all. Gel Foam Beds.
They came like this, and at first, I was a little skeptical. On move in day, we had them ready to go in their space. But when we rolled them out, they filled out perfectly, and made for an amazing bed. So super soft, we’re all… are you kids sure you don’t want to snuggle with us?
And when they say yes, we say… on your bed?
Quilts:
Our favorite quilts you’re spying on these beds are from Crane & Canopy.
If you’ve ever ordered a shirt from us before, you know we don’t mess around with softness. It’s something we won’t compromise on. I guess you could say we’re total comfort snobs. So to say we adore Crane & Canopy is putting it lightly. Their comfort and quality never disappoint. We also own one of their duvets for our own bed, and it has been through dog overload, bloody noses and voms {from the kids… ew I know}. We all need something easy and soft in the land of bedding, and that’s exactly what their product is. A simple wash and it’s like new again. All that to say, we love their quality.
We mentioned them this summer and these specific kind of quilt are no longer available but they’re reversible and we love the sweet little details to mix and match the kiddos’ beds. They have a great selection to check out for all your snuggle/bedtime needs. ;}
Fabrics + Pillows:
You’re spying our fabrics and pillows in these photographs, which we decided would be a fun way to accent throughout the space.
Find them here:
• Plaid You Could Make It Fabric
• Lovely in Lapis Fabric
• Blooming Genius Fabric – Pillow found here
• Spotted in Yellow Fabric
• Right as Rain Fabric
• Trip to the Carnival Fabric
• Gold stripe pillow is also made from this fabric via Online Fabric Store. -You may recognize it from our old playroom.
The Duvet covers are from H&M. I scooped them up last spring for 20 dollars each.
Beds:
The boys’ headboards were found at Joss and Main – the Honeycomb Deluxe Steel Headboard in brushed gold.
Emerson’s center headboard was an old flea market find we originally used for Aiden’s toddler bed… we built the bases and will have a how to for that coming up, as well.
Art:
Was hand painted by yours truly.
A few of you guys were kind enough to ask if you could purchase it. We now have it available here.
Whale print also available in the studio, here.
And we just added these adorable bookends back that a few of you guys were asking about that had been on backorder until now. It’s on sale here!
We used our own Cloud Nine wallpaper for an accent wall in the space. We have more details on it coming up and love the soft texture it brought to the space!
Other furniture:
Jamin’s childhood chest of drawers we’ve had since our young married days – it was given a fresh coat of paint.
My trunk from our college days and the makeover details here.
We’ve covered a lot in this post, and may have left something out by accident – please let us know if there’s any additional questions or anything that we didn’t cover!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Have an inspired day!
I was happy to see that your offering your so sweet painting, but, when I went to the shop, and saw that you offered 8×8 or 10×10, etc, it wasn’t on the option to buy list. Will that be soon?
Hey Erin!
I’m afraid that was a misprint. We’re hesitant, because with this art, there are so many fine details in the way those were painted, a lot of it will be lost with a smaller size. We may look into offering it in the future, but it’s safer to go with larger sizes for now. ;}
Ok. Thanks, bummer. I wish I had the wall space for the larger, but I don’t. But, I will keep a look out for it, just in case.
Absolutely gorgeous. You guys are so gracious to share your sources like this. Everything is just so beautiful!
Your simple, yet whimsical style is inspiring! I love the colors, the mixture of old and new, and above all, keeping it about the kids! Well done!!
How do you like your floors since you moved in? Has the finish held up with kids and dogs? We are on the fence about getting Hill country hardwoods or pergo laminate .
Hey Amy! We actually have a whole post coming up about this. In short, we love love love our floors, and they are holding up great against all of the things. We did not get laminate, but their pre finished hardwood. It’s 100% hardwood. Just thought I should clarify on the product we used in case there was some confusion and you thought we had laminate? Either way, Pergo is a great brand. ;}
Can’t wait to read your new post about your hardwood floors when it comes out! I really want smooth hardwoods but I’m worried that I’ll end up scratching or ding them up. That’s why I’m thinking of going with laminate
I understand! I guess that’s the con with hardwoods. They’re never going to be perfect… just as no house is really perfect. It comes down to what you’re willing to live with, for sure. Pergo has a gorgeous selections for laminate – we’ve seen them in person when we were considering the same things. Most of them, you can’t even tell.
