Itttttssssss HAPPENING!!!!
Remember this NOT-so-little project? I always try NOT to share things a little too early here on our side of the www, now that we’re well-versed veterans of Williamson County codes. In fact, things usually get away from me because life. However, I got a little excited this time last year, and… did it anyway. Little did we know it would be an entire ADDITIONAL year until these sweet homeowners and clients would get the final go-ahead with their big plans for their dream house. I just checked the date, and it appears to be a year TO THE DAY when I’m publishing this, and that wasn’t even on purpose. So this project is officially three {!? we’ve lost count} years in the making, and we’re thrilled to announce that it’s FINALLY happening. Even if this waiting-for-approval process has been completely ridiculous.
If you’re unfamiliar with the project, please check out all the details here. No worries, we’ll wait. But we’ll also share a little here today. For starters, the plans have changed a smidge. Here’s the new front elevation below. Due to codes and restrictions {If you’re familiar with our {now} eight-year home journey, then you’ll remember that the codes and septic, etc., here can feel impossible in Franklin, TN.} things have shifted a little. We’ve learned that with septic restrictions here, you have to be problem solvers. And your dreams are possible, they just might have to be tweaked a little and take a moment. Here’s the new before…
Compared to the first design. Which I honestly like better.
And a quick glance at the floorplans, which have also shifted slightly compared to the before. They’re going out with their existing footprint, so these walls will all be coming down. Basically, because of their septic field and backup field, {both required with setbacks} their study flip-flopped with their bonus room, and things were taken down a notch in spacing. Thus, the problem-solving in this giant collab with our amazing architect + clients. It’s a lot to review in one short post, so I’ll just share some before and ‘during’ shots today. But overall, their spaces are still going to be incredible.
You may remember when we last dropped in to tell you this fun news, their house looked like their welcoming home. It just wasn’t what they wanted to call their forever home. In the meantime, they’re feeling adventurous and have now moved into this airstream. While I’m sure they’ll be over it by the time we’re {OH SO QUICKLY as much as possible!} finished, it will definitely be an adventure to remember and a fun story to tell everyone. So we popped in and got a few more befores, before our people started swinging those hammers.
Here’s the living area before… The previous owners took on a redo of their own and were kind of obsessed with those recessed lights.
And a fun shot of that now.
Kitchen before…
And a view from the other side with the before and after…
We love how much this opens up their views!
And here’s a peek at how it will look after.
With more fun details, here.
The laundry room before…
Which will be relocated to the other side of the house where we’ll have more of this.
And this.
And on the other side of this larger space, we have the other half of the house.
They’ll essentially be pushing through this closet, to create more space outside and add more square footage. So here it is now… {the floors are actually gone now… but here we are anyway.}
Here’s a view of one of their bedrooms…
And their primary bathroom…
Which will become more of this.
So here’s what’s next: We’ll finish up some basic demo, leaving structural framing and the roof intact, while we dig and pour the new foundation that will attach to the old. Once the foundation for the additions and the garage is poured, we will frame everything back to the new design, and then it’s off to the races!
We hope you’ll stay tuned while we move forward with this massive project! We can’t wait to share more.
And this is where we are! We’ve pivoted on a few things, but the overall vibe is the same. With a great plan in place, we are so honored these sweet clients have entrusted us with their journey and home. We are thrilled to be a part of it. Stay tuned, because I’ll be sharing more updates on this crazy project. And be sure to check out more of it here!
Have an inspired day!
