Even though school has started, we’re not letting go of summer just yet.
Nope. Not for quite some time.
It may be snowing and you’ll find me all layered up, floating in the pool. With the pumpkins. Because we’re always a little slow on this seasonal change stuff, and we’re not ready for that nonsense. Basically, we need time to stop moving so quickly.
We also blame it on the fact that we kind of like to throw little shindigs at the pool.
There’s something about having a pool and playing the perpetual host… which we don’t mind one bit. So we’re in a bit of backyard party/entertaining mode, every chance we get.
This time, the kids decided to come up with a little slushie shop for their friends to enjoy. They even designed some fun little Evite invitations to send to their friends. (How fun and easy is this site to get the word out to friends? 7UP® has lots of great ones, and it goes right to their inbox with no stamps needed.)
We also joined in on the fun and created a few printables to give a fun feel, and let them go to town.
With just a few ingredients, we were able to relish in the final days of summer… and it tastes oh so sweet!
{refresh if the video isn’t playing.}
Seriously, this slushie is so good, you’ll want to make them for every gathering.
If you want to make your own… just pick up the following from your local store {we love Albertsons or Safeway!} :
• 2 – 12 oz cans of 7UP
• 8oz of your favorite juice concentrate {we used strawberry}
• juice of 2 fresh limes
• 1-2 oz Agave syrup (depending on how sweet you want it.)
• slushie machine or blender (if using a blender you’ll need to add ice to give it a frozen cocktail feel.)
We added the concentrate first, and then the 7UP while it was stirring (pour slowly). After that, we squeezed in the fresh lime juice and added the Agave syrup. TADA! The perfect taste of summer = strawberry lemon lime slushies!
Simply mix all the ingredients together, and enjoy with your favorite people.
We also added these simple accessories:
• these little cups
• spoon drinking straws because the only thing a little more fun would be a spork
• napkins
• balloons – because is it a party without them?
And to make the “stand” we grabbed one of our little side tables from the great room, and paired it with some fabric + PVC pipes. Easy peasy!
To up the ante with our little slushie shop, we also thought it’d be fun to have a little party in your pocket action, and throw in these freebie printables.
Just click, download, and print! From birthday parties to casual get togethers with the kiddos, these little printables are pretty useful and we hope you guys have as much fun as we did!
{The stickers adhered to the cups with our sticker maker, or you can print them out on little stickers – we have a file to suit both needs}
• stickers grouped {slushie stickers}- single stickers – {slushie sticker solo}
• flavor labels {slushie flavor labels + slushie flavors}
• enjoy {slushie enjoy}
• surely good slushie shop sign {slushie sign}
• banner {slushie banner}
The kids adored them… and even Rigby and Fitz wanted in on the action! Who knew 7UP could be so fun!
As always, let us know if you try them. We’d love to see! There are so many endless possibilities!
Happy party planning as the summer turns into fall, and have fun saving on those trips to the post office with some Evites invitations for your gatherings!
{We partnered with the with 7UP, Albertsons Companies and Evite to highlight some of the great aspects of party planning. For more on our partnerships please visit here.)

There’s no way I’m giving you my slushy recipe, my mom said, “you’ll probably put booze in it.” Up until that exact moment, adding booze to the mix actually hadn’t occurred to me. But now? New slush-based summer beverage options opened up before me, slowly unfolding like one of the long and lazy afternoons that seem to require them.
It would be another few years until I managed to get the actual recipe for summer slush out of my mom, though, and until I turned 21 it was a closely guarded family secret—one that I’m sharing with the whole world today.
