smart home finds we’d purchase again
When we moved a few months ago, it was a hodgepodge of mix-and-match to get the house to work for us. It felt like putting Humpty Dumpty together again, and it was a mix of Facebook Marketplace deals, upcycled pieces, splurges, and saves. We really loved sharing our recent summer tour, and today, I thought I’d share a few of our universal faves that we’d definitely do twice. So without further ado: smart home finds we’d purchase again!

1. The Entryway: {Some of these may be affiliate links so I can continue to share– thank you for understanding!} This was a bit of a splurge for me because I like to be smart about what I buy… I also scored them at a discount, and they’re forever pieces; therefore, justification. The dresser + lamp combo added just the right amount of personality for the front. I topped the lamps with shades from Target + vintage rick rack. Then I added this entryway rug {similar one here} for some more color. {And if anyone’s curious, mirror, already owned}

2. The Dining Area: We’ve had this table for most of our marriage, and I love that it has lots of leaves for max gathering. Since there is no additional dining space in the house, I knew it was important to have plenty of seating. I combined our existing chairs with two new end chairs at a low price, so I could have more additions. The buffet was a Facebook Marketplace score, and we’ve had the rug. All art original to me.

3. Living Room Space: We needed curtains immediately, so I opted for these semi-sheer additions throughout the main living areas. They offer privacy without blocking out the light entirely. They worked great with these rods.

Seating: We combined many of our old sofas, chairs, and other pieces for this space. What we needed was a fresh way to enjoy these chairs. So we added these ottomans for extra comfort + storage. It’s crazy how much comfier a chair becomes when you have a space to rest those feet!

Rug: We were also ready for a soft splash of color here. We tied it together with our old woven rug so things wouldn’t feel too modular or stiff in the space. It’s so soft underneath. Comfort for the win!
Lamps: The floors don’t have plugs, so I was a little irked since lamplight is everything. We decided to add these battery-powered lamps + topped them with shades from Target.
4. Bedroom Space: We combined a lot of our older things {my desk, older bedroom items + former dining room rug} in this space. But we left our old bed behind in our former home, and we were ready for a little color. So we decided to add this bed and I love the change.

5. Bonus Room Space: Our oldest inherited most of our basement furniture for his new college lodgings next year. We also knew those pieces would no longer fit here, so we decided to search for the perfect modular sofa for this room. This space now serves as our cozy movie area, and we couldn’t love it more. We found that modular sofas were either cheaply made with all the wrong elements or priced at 10k. We weren’t game for any of those. So, we were really thrilled when we found this one on sale. We love it so much, we’ve added another ottoman because yolo.

Console Table: Again, we were going for sensible finds here that fit the house… and we love this simple console table. It comes in the prettiest finish and holds all the things. We love the curved edges, too.

6. Kids Rooms: Again, this was such a remix; it was good to change up some things when it came to offering more storage, especially at a lower height for these windows. Yes, our needs were very specific.

Lockers + Rug: Originally, I found these at Walmart, but they’re no longer available. But I was able to source them here. Super easy for a great addition! Once I had this in place, I knew we needed a little color on these floors, so I sourced this rug, here. Since her room is now oriented a different way, this and a dust ruffle was all she needed.

I did the same for our oldest’s room. Similar look here.

Beanbag: For our youngest, his one request was a beanbag, so we were happy to add that as well.

7. Back Porch: We recently shared the entire thing here but really loved adding this rug for some fun definition and color.

Garden Box: My babies are growing, and I couldn’t be more excited! Here for this not-so-little garden box for all things gardening this summer.

So here are a few things we loved for our new house – we hope that it helped a little if you’re interested, too! Just a few simple finds to help things feel like home. Have an inspired day!
