small accents for a big impact in your home

This next little post was brought to you by… coffee. Yep, that’s right y’all. Our first ever Coffee Talk. Remember our first official video where we did a little explaining about what we planned to be up to next? This is the version where we chat it up, and it’s all fueled by our number one go-to for productivity.

I’m sticking with it, even though Jamin is still making fun of me. {See also: Wait until you see where he tells people to purchase pillows from… the germaphobe in me freaked out a little ;}}

Today, we thought it would be a great idea to talk about small accents for a big impact in your home.We were thinking back on ways to save big, and these were our favorite categories. No rolling down the aisles actually needed. Here are some of our favorite tips.

Windows:
• The cheater’s guide to easy window treatments: I’m what they refer to as the reluctant seamstress. We believe in selvage edges {try not to faint}, taking down the plastic blinds, and ring clips with hanging tips.
• We also love the cheater’s guide to easy window hardware – which goes into a little more detail.
Frames:
• Rehabbing frames – it’s a great way to approach all things revived, and save on the little things that can add up.
• How to decorate a staircase – great ideas for major impact.
• And because we don’t all that glorious staircase – Tips + tricks for a gallery wall in a tight space
• How to build a frame {links included in this post for more frame styles} – save big for major impact on a space!
Pillows:

• How to sew a pillow: sometimes its good to start with the basics.

• And five DIY pillows to make.
• Totally biased, but as always be sure to check out our pillows + fabrics in our studio!
If you’re not sure where to start on making your home your own, we always say it’s good to start small, with major impact. It also saves major bucks, so you can focus on those bigger pieces that you’ll probably be reupholstering twenty years from now because the bones are just that good.
PSST: coming up: a Q+A session. So anything in particular you’d like to see addressed, we’ll be glad to talk about! Leave them in the comments or an email – we can’t wait to hear from you!
As always, let us know if you have any questions. Have an inspired day!

  1. This was really helpful and I’d actually never seen some of these posts! I have a question for your next one: how did you get started?

I love all these tips. Thank you for the practical approach with a fun spin! In other news I almost spit my coffee everywhere this morning when jamin rolled. Seriously.
