This project is one that we’re really thrilled to share today, because it was quite the change, with quite the impact. We took on the entire bottom level, and more of this house with these sweet clients. So it was a journey, and we know they are so thrilled to be finished! We loved changing it up for some fun ideas! Sometimes we become so immersed in a process, we forget what the before’s looked like. To say this one wowed us, is an understatement.
We’re honestly not sure where to start with this one since there’s so much information to share. So we’re going with our favorite part: their kitchen! These clients are big on cooking as a family, and were looking for a few updates to make it more efficient, and bring it up to modern day for a nice refresh. From everyday use, to entertaining friends, we think this new change will give them years of happy use.
The L-Shape of the original kitchen was making the space pretty limited. So we changed up the layout with a small island in the middle, and offered some more practical storage solutions, along with a little eye candy.
Can we just take a second to appreciate that even their befores are adorable? Plate of cookies and fresh chopped veggies, anyone?
And here’s the after. It’s hard to believe that this is the same space.
These clients lived in their house for a while, and aren’t planning on going anywhere. So we were so excited to help them fall in love with their home all over again.
Paint Colors:
The main wall colors throughout the home, are Sherwin Williams Modern Gray, alternating with Sherwin Williams Sea Salt for nice, soothing tones.
Hardware:
The pretty grey hue of the cabinets looked so great with the tile {more on that below} and new countertops!
We polished it all off with this fabulous brass hardware from D.Lawless
We loved bringing in some character to their eat in area, with a banquette built for extra storage, along with an expandable table for guests.
Pillows for character and color are easily removed when kiddos are eating, and we topped it off with this lovely Kichler Chandelier.
Kitchen Lighting:
This is Kichler’s Voletta light in natural brass. – We adore the one of a kind character with this light! It’s like jewelry for your room!
Of course the rest of the space is Kichler as well.
Their Everly Pendants helped anchor the island, without becoming obtrusive in views, adding so much character to their kitchen.
And their Ellerbeck Sconce {one of our faves!} added some amazing character over that sink.
We just adore how fresh that kitchen feels, now! (Barstools from Wayfair)
(Table and chairs from Wayfair)
Something that we always recommend our clients do, is to install under cabinet lighting in kitchen spaces.
They’re dimmable, concealed out of sight, and absolutely amazing on darker days. My lame photography never quite does it justice, but I did manage to get an under-cabinet shot. If you’re considering taking on a renovation, do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars… install this yesterday.
Tile:
Of course this fabulous backsplash tile is Jeffrey Court subway in Cotton Blossom.
The handmade element with subtle differences in texture just brings in that one of a kind feel. It’s definitely a crowd fave.
It’s so pretty from this head-on view!
And speaking of Jeffrey Court… we loved adding their tile here, as well.
This desk section was used to collect school things, like papers, backpacks and shoes but never really used. You know those catch all spaces we all have in our home? They were looking for more of a drop zone which we ended up providing elsewhere {more on that below}, so that they could use valuable real estate to put this space back together.
Now they have more of a dry bar area, with functional shelving, and more storage space underneath. This Jeffrey Court Tile brought in a different design element and we are here for it! It’s all in the details, for sure.
We also loved bringing in all those fun details, with one of a kind finds, as well. This was a high-use space in their kitchen, but they needed something more functional as a cabinet to store and display. We fell in love with this piece, {originally from here, now sold out} and loved using it for a new functional cabinet.
Catching a glimpse of another Kichler flush mount light {Alton} in the hallway, we loved using their pieces in this renovation!
This kitchen was such a fabulous change from the before. Removing the L-shaped cabinetry, and opening it up to allow for an island, really made a difference in the layout. We adore the awesome new look!
Plumbing Fixtures:
As usual, one of our very favorite additions, is all things Delta Faucet for an effortless, functional silhouette when it comes to plumbing fixtures. It’s a brand you can truly depend on, while bringing in plenty of style.
For our clients’ kitchen faucet, we loved using the Cassidy Single Handle Kitchen Faucet with Spray in Champagne Bronze™.
The warmer hue definitely added a touch of contrast to the entire kitchen, while bringing in simple elegance with its soft, effortless lines.
One of the features that we adore so much about Delta®, is their DIAMOND™ Seal Technology. It will perform like new for life. Straight from their site: “…with a patented design which reduces leak points, is less hassle to install, and lasts twice as long as the industry standard.”
We love that it’s a long lasting, solid product to install in homes.
The single handle on this kitchen faucet makes it easy to reach and adjust, as well.
It’s no secret that plumbers prefer Delta® because their pieces are universal, and switch out easily.
We also went with their Traditional Wall Mount pot Filler in Champagne Bronze™. We actually get this question a lot on our site, but if you can, install a pot filler. They’re so convenient and easy, while adding a lot of style as well.
The classic lines on this Delta Faucet piece make it oh so attractive and functional over any stovetop. And we love that Delta Faucets are backed by their lifetime warranty.
Their pantry door was replaced with a fun, old-fashioned screened door for some character, and a fun fabric for a shot of color over it. This way, they can fully use it for all things practical storage.
Sadly, I didn’t get a before of this, but I think you know where we’re headed. Catch a sneak peek of their amazing dining room, {I have this thing for old fashioned kitchen doors and theirs is amazing} but we’ll come back to that.

Next up, their mudroom. This might be the simplest change with the biggest impact.
Because once upon a time, it was their laundry room.
They needed a drop zone for after school, a place to store a few things, and more practical storage. So they oh so brilliantly moved their laundry room upstairs {next to the bedrooms is always easier} and replaced it with this.
We brought in baskets for a nice storage fit, hooks for hanging, shoe baskets, and a rug {similar} to warm it all up.
SO satisfying! This is also a door to their backyard pool, so it just makes more sense to have it here.
One more time… before…
After!
Across the hall, is a small half bath.
We were thrilled to give these sweet clients a fresh half bath, as well. It serves as a perfect space to refresh after those long days by the pool. They needed something both effortless and bright for this smaller bath.
We included soft colors and easy accents, to make the space actually feel larger.
Plumbing Fixture:
One of our favorite go-to’s is this Victorian Two Handle Widespread Bathroom Faucet In Champagne Bronze™ from Delta Faucet.
It definitely adds a touch of that classic, old-world charm to any bath. And just like all the pieces we selected for the kitchen, the bath faucet also comes equipped with DIAMOND Seal Technology.
Tile: This Jeffrey Court Tile {Carrara Constellation} made the floor feel timeless, like it’s been there for ages. It feels oh so smooth under the feet, and brings in some great character to the space.
Light: The fabulous Janiel Vanity light from Kichler, lightens and brightens the space!
Other Sources:
We also adore the way that this mirror pairs so easily with the vanity.
We brought in more brass accents like this fabulous hardware by D.Lawless in simple ways to add interest to a tiny space.
We just love these happy, simple changes.
Their living room was already fabulously cozy, with a lot of awesome potential.
But they were ready to use it as more of a gathering area for their family, for movies and more.
So we gave their existing fireplace a mortar rub, and updated their cabinets with a fun color.
{Bookshelf color = Sherwin Williams Colonnade Gray.}
It’s simply amazing what a little refresh can do! We love that they were able to bring that television over the fireplace, for practical space-saving placement.
They needed more seating options here, so we helped source furnishings that are both cozy but also made the space feel larger.
This coffee table was the perfect solution to bring in a whole lot of character, without taking up much visual space.
Layer up! Using multiple rugs in a space is a great way to mix color with texture. We adore the way these work within the space.
Of course replacing the carpet in all these rooms was a major game changer as well… continuous flooring is an automatic upgrade to a home and making it feel larger over all.
We brought color and character to the bookshelves by mixing in simple abstract pieces with fun old books.
No, one can never have enough colorful old books. I’m not even sorry about it.
On each side of this door way, are two gallery walls with fun photos of their family.
We love using walls as meaningful displays and this is a perfect combo of color and character.
Light:
This beautiful Capitol Hill Kichler light for the win! It anchors the room while bringing in more lighting options at night!

chairs {similar} / coffee table / rugs 1, 2 / pillows: blush, denim, striped floor, striped tassels / art framed, small, large / throw / candle holders 1, 2 + candlesticks / lantern / frames / lamp
This doorway from the living room leads us to the library. They were ready to repurpose this space as a gathering area for family, and lots of good reading time. They’re a family of avid readers so this just made sense to change it over for them in a really fun way.
Now the two spaces have a definite purpose, and can be used in so many fun ways.
Here’s the before, which is already charming, but they were ready for an update.
It truly brightened their space with a color refresh and friendly furnishings.
This was once where they had their TV, but since this is {one of} the first spaces guests will see when they walk in the front door, it made sense to switch them out.
We love that they collect records as a family, and now have a music room, as well. So it’s just another great option for gathering!
We brought in lots of seating options with floor cushions, while keeping the main walkway free and clear.
Light:
This Iron 6-light chandelier vintage light from Kichler lighting is one of our very own personal favorites, and we adore the fun character it brought into the space!

THIS is one of our favorite views in the whole home. How fun is this transition?
Looking out from their library, one can see their formal foyer and dining room view.
Lighting: Another Kichler Arlo entryway light for the win!
Their home already felt sweet, warm and inviting. This was just a process of helping to simplify some things, so that their fresh new style could really shine through.
We brought in a simple table and lamp combo to really help define this space. It can be a drop zone for all things keys and smaller items, but also helped add to the hallway, which leads to the kitchen.
Their stairs were ready for an update, and we were glad to freshen those up as well with a more classic/modern look.
Standing in the foyer, this is the view going back to the library.
These tones are so soothing.

Which brings us to the dining room!
As a mom, she loves to display her children’s artwork. Is there anything sweeter? But they were ready for more of a purpose behind this space. So we adored coming up with a solution to let that shine, while also changing it up a bit.
This entire home is an example where knocking down walls is not the answer for every home. The plan was to maintain their existing footprint, while letting those individual spaces serve their purpose with lots of fun character.
Cue that amazing kitchen door again! They just don’t make ’em like this anymore.
This family is big into art, but they were also looking for more of a space to entertain, too. So we came up with the happy compromise of elements like an outdoor rug, easy to clean surfaces that don’t have to be babysat {when the end chairs are pulled away} and a great way to display art and interchange them easily, with a new wall.
We’ve got the best of both worlds {Cue Hannah Montanna Music – you’re welcome}
Lighting:
Another Kichler light that made the space is this elegant Botanica chandelier!
We’re smitten with this one. All their lights are so drool-worthy.
So how cute is their children’s art, displayed? This space is a perfect way to switch out her children’s masterpieces in this fun grid format. These frames actually swing out and make for a great, instantly changeable collection!

This home is not short on character by any means, so it was really just helping highlight some of it’s best features. A glow up, if you will. From bay windows to fun kitchen doors and pretty molding in this space, it was great to simplify and bring it to life all at the same time.
The upstairs children’s bath is a shared space by two siblings, a brother, and sister.
So we brought continuity from the downstairs bath, while also adding interest in simple ways, that will grow with them over time. This bath was in need of an update, and we were so happy to switch it up!
Fabulous hardware, again, from D.Lawless!
Lighting:
The Janiel vanity light is another way we tied in the downstairs with the upstairs. We loved the extra lighting it brought into the space, along with the amazing Ryame mirror which is also from Kichler – more on that is below.
Just changing out the pieces and colors made it feel so much larger, and we adore that soft blue on the walls.
Plumbing Fixtures:
For the faucet, we added the Victorian Two Handle Widespread Bathroom Faucet in Champagne Bronze™ from Delta Faucet. It added simple lines to the bath, and made it a no-brainer in tying it in to the downstairs.
We loved bringing in some beautiful pieces for their shower, which now feels like an absolute spa. (vanity from Wayfair)
Again, one of the things that we love the most about Delta Faucets, is the effortless ability to mix and match their amazing pieces for a cohesive look.
The fixtures from the shower include: {All of these finishes in Champagne Bronze™}
• Stryke™ Bath Collection – Non-Diverter Tub Spout
These crisp lines give the shower a classic, yet modern feel and ties in so easily with everything else.
• Angular Modern Monitor® Integrated Shower Diverter
This gives our clients the flexibility to select the custom shower functionality they prefer.
• Dryden™ Premium Single Setting Adjustable Wall Mount Hand Shower
The Wall Mount hand shower makes everything more versatile from bathing to cleaning. We love the options it offers with how fabulous everything works together. It also comes with a backflow protection system that keeps catastrophes from occurring in the future.
• Universal Single-Setting Raincan Showerhead in Champagne Bronze™️
The soft rubber touch spray holes make future clean-up really easy when it comes to those pesky lime and calcium build-up issues. Winning!
We included this little tidbit on our last bath update we shared, but we thought it was important to include it here, as well.
What we really love the most about these fixtures, is that they have TempAssure™ Technology, which keeps the temperature consistent by precisely measuring and automatically adjusting the hot and cold water mix. That means it keeps it safe for little hands to not experience a sudden surge in temperature because water is being used elsewhere in the house.
Remember that old bit about flushing the toilet in the bathroom which results in a scream from someone showering, elsewhere? When the settings are in place, TempAssure™ Technology prevents sudden dangerous fluctuations in water temperature. We love this for every home, especially older ones, and spaces with children.
Trustworthy, dependable, and oh so stylish… I think you can see why Delta Faucets is our go-to for all things plumbing fixtures.
Tile:
Of course we adored bringing in some Jeffrey Court tile for this finished bath space!
This time, we went with stripes! Cotton Blossom + Potter’s Grey – more of that handmade feel for added interest and fun. It’s perfect for a kids’ bath that is sure to grow with them.
The flooring was again Carrara Constellation – it tied in wonderfully with the flooring downstairs. It has a timeless feel, and makes for an awesome non-slip bath surface to boot.
We turned an old storage closet which didn’t hold much, into a towel tower, and we think it was one of the best changes! It’s funny how little makeovers can open up spaces even more!
Everything just feels so fresh and so clean now.
This backlit Ryame mirror is amazing piece from Kichler, as well. I’m currently searching for a place in my own home to use it. I wanted to include a photo, which doesn’t begin to do it justice – we always love this as an extra element! Especially for growing teens.
Other sources: shower curtain / bath mat
Since they use their outdoor covered porch so much, it made sense to do a little fun change here, as well!
There’s nothing a few twinkle lights can’t warm up!
Sources: sofa {similar} / rug / pillow / lights
We loved helping to create a cozy outdoor space for them as well!
I wonder if they’ll find it creepy when they catch me hanging out at their house because I’m now officially obsessed with it?
Whew guys. This one was a doozie of a tour. Thank you so much for tuning in today to see some fun changes. We had a blast putting this one together!
I know everyone is happy this one is wrapped up, but it was a lot of fun.
I know without a doubt that we left some things out, since this project was kinda massive. So let us know if you have any questions!
Have an inspired day!

This makeover is marvelous! Brightened up but so cozy and welcoming. I love the flooring, but didn’t see a source. Did I miss it?

Hey Mandy! It’s part of Mohawk’s luxury laminate. It looks like real wood. And feels amazing underfoot. I highly recommend getting your hands on a sample via a local showroom because colors and shades will vary!
