Hello lovelies!
It’s been a while since we’ve had one of these little round ups, and today, we thought we’d share a few of our favorite products right now… some we’ve used and love, and some we want to do something with… a little mini-inspiration, if you will. ;} So without further ado…
1. This little whistle necklace is oh so charming with its vintage-esque look. Oh, and it really whistles. Emerson may or may not have stolen it from me… It feels a little bit like Joan Holloway. Except it’s not a pen. And I’m not Joan. And it kind of feels like my first ever Hello Kitty whistle that I probably drove my parents crazy with. The grown up version.
2. You guys know we love all things typography. This super fun type poster really rocks our world. It would look oh-so-sharp at a desk! We love the price, too.
3. We’re really feeling the granny-chic vibe lately, and would love an old sheer lace tablecloth. This one is unique + gorgeous. Found here.
4. I feel like this is an art sculpture and not a ‘real’ children’s toy… so if it is, please fill us in. But we found this here, and we are in love. It needs to get in our playroom, yesterday. I know. It’s random…it’s just one of those pieces. Oh so fun. Quite possibly the world’s coolest toy.
5. This vintage croquette set reminds me of summers at my grandmother’s house. There should be a fun way to display a collection of those striped balls on a wall…. hmmm…
6. Proud moment: One of high school friends totally just wrote this awesome children’s book. The Girl Who Got Out of Bed. Can anyone else relate? My kids loved it, and it’s charming bedtime story for your littles!
7. I nabbed some of this face scrub at Tarjay the other day and it’s my new fave. I feel like it makes my face glow. It’s probably all in my head so just roll with it.
8. My hair has been this weird kind of kinked out/half curled since I had children. As if life isn’t complicated enough as a mom, let’s throw hair issues into the mix. YAY! It went from straight-as-a-board and easy to manage to crazyoutofcontrol and I was super close to pulling a Sinead O’connor until my fab hair dresser recommended this. It’s a bit of an investment, but there’s been no turning back. It saves me an hour, and if you have the same (first world) problems you can totally relate. You’ll thank me later, because I just found it discounted, here. This + Moroccan Oil totally keeps it manageable.
9. Don’t ask me why, but a vintage cooler is so on my list.
10. I’ve worn the same lipstick for twelve years. TWELVE. I can’t decide if it’s a sign that I need to get out more, but I do believe it’s just that fantastic. You know when you find your color and there’s no parting with it? Ever? And if anyone ever tried to take it away, they would have to pry it from your cold, dead hands and then you would claw their eyeballs out after you came back to life? This is that color for me. I’ve been thinking of pulling a Taylor Swift with the red, but I’m not Taylor, so there’s that. Anyway, check it here. Love Origins. FOR.EV.ER.
11. I’m smitten with this rug, and that’s a problem. Because I am obsessed. Particularly if paired with Benjamin Moore’s Once Upon a Time. My latest green crush. I’m putting together a space in my head as I type. I DO need to get out more.
12. This toenail polish is a party on my toes. I am sure it will take twelve years to remove because I’m twelve and I put ten layers on for ultra glitter mode, but I am in discoballgold heaven, and no one can tell me differently. Thank you.
That concludes our rando roundup. What’s your favorite product lately that you’re smitten with?
Have an inspired day, y’all!

Love this! I am going to have to get a new straightener. Mine is a chi and it totally died. I may make the move. I have the same problem with weird mom hair.

You always make me laugh. Thanks for that. If I need to smile, I know I should come here.

I have te same problem with kinky post-kid hair. Totally sucks. And let’s not mention crazy re-growth. Neverless, my hairdresser used this little thing on my hair and it had changed my life. For real, like I actually look like I got a blow-out every time I wash my hair (with the 1.5 inch bristle head), and it helps touch it up on the odd day (may or may not be eevery other day) I decide to not wash my hair. This plus argan oil in mist form = finally a decent head of hair. http://www.amazon.com/Conair-Hot-Curling-Combo-Inch/dp/B00005A43X/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1374872843&sr=1-1&keywords=conair+hot+air+curling+combo+1.5+inch

I’ve been looking for a go-to fav lipstick…I can never get the color right….twelve years is awesome! what color do you get? Is it orbit? Thanks for this fun eye candy!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Lisa! Yes, it is! It’s sheer enough to not feel too heavy. I just don’t like it when it feels heavy, ya know? I am such a creature of habit! ;}
Pam says
I was curious about your lipstick, so I clicked on the Origins website. The poor reviews say this product does NOT have staying power. So, is that your experience? If so, why have you stayed with it for 12 years? Just curious. I’d be willing to try it, but not if it lacks staying power. Thank you in advance.
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Pam! I guess it all depends what you like in a lipstick. I don’t need staying power, and heavy stuff freaks me out. It’s called sheer for a reason, I guess ;} It’s probably not for you, if staying power is a must. I choose lipstick based on how it works with my coloring, and how it feels. This one is perfection. I don’t mind having to reapply, because it’s so flattering with my color. I’m very fair skinned, freckles + blue eyes and dirty blonde hair. So it’s such a pretty color on me and brings our my features… it’s my fave. It’s more of a chapstick kinda feel. It rubs right off… but that doesn’t bother me because I prefer the natural feel to a heavy staying power one. I’ve never been able to find a lipstick I like in the past, because they’ve all been too heavy with my skin tone. It’s all a preference thing I guess… I’d never even thought of staying power! ha! My sis in law has worn the same stick in a different color for probably nine years now… I introduced her to it and she loves it just as much. ;} I hope that helps.

I love the lipstick. They have 3 shades of it, which is your fave? Orbit? I can’t tell by the pic. Thank you! 🙂

That croquette set looks like something that’s worth adding to a vintage collection. It’s just great to look at IMHO.
Tennille Mykula says
Ashley, M.A.C has a lipstick called Lady Danger which is reason enough to buy it. It is the bold coral/Orange cousin of Taylor’s red. I bought a tube of it at the beginning of the summer and I can’t get enough of it. I just might go buy several more tubes so that when they discontinue it I won’t be heartbroken. I’ve always struggled to find that perfect matte red and although this one isn’t quite red it’s packing the same kind of punch. So, next time you’re at the mall you should give it a try. It may not replace your old faithful but it might give you a fun, pop-of-serious-color, option. Enjoy!
