If you’ve been following along here, then you know that we’ve been a long time coming with our addition. We recently shared the framing, and the butlers pantry walkthrough + laundry design plans here! Because this is the fun part.
But first, little necessary backtracking JIC you have no idea what we’re talking about:
• We were thrilled to announce our primary owner’s suite addition this summer + a history of our house. It’s been a really long process for us, one we weren’t sure would happen. So we’re adding on and expanding in an awesome way for our family.
• Here, we shared our plans, where we’ve been working with an awesome architect {Peter Aylsworth -if you’re looking for an amazing person, look him up.} In the meantime, we also shared a little of what we’ll be taking on in our front yard, to solve our mullet prob, as well.
• And the beginning of it all, here.
What’s going on now: While the HVAC & plumbing have been installed, (we even have our fireplace in tact!) Jamin’s finished up the electrical. The crawlspace is sealed {it truly looks fabulous} and slowly but surely these important steps are coming together – it’s basically a lot of organized chaos.
This week in particular is thrilling because we’ve installed a new roof on THE WHOLE HOUSE! More on that coming soon, but it’s the last thing on this house we haven’t touched since our outside makeover with Window World – and now we’ll be replacing the entire thing since it was easily 25+ years old. Not to mention, it no longer matches our beautiful outside so we couldn’t be more THRILLED about this one. IT LOOKS SO GOOD.
Slowly but surely we’re adding windows next week {again, with the fabulous window world!} and brick. I’ve also been working on all the fun design stuff. All of this in between wrapping up some client work, and brand work because of our day jobs we love so much… so there’s been a TON going on. It’s really kind of hard to keep up with our own house so we’re taking it on as we can.
But if you remember per our framing tour, this is the main bedroom. This is the opposite wall you see upon entry. It may be hard to tell, but these ceilings are going to be spectacular. We went with as much height as possible for the entire space, since our parameters were really limiting.
In between these two windows, is where our bed will go.
And on the other side of the room, we’ll have this situation going on. It’s a fireplace with built-in storage.
I’ve sketched up the design here so you can see how it’ll fit in the space… and it will have a lot of these nuances from our pool room.
The winters can get really cold in Franklin / Nashville, so we love that we’ll have a fireplace of our own in our room! I may actually get out of bed sooner on those colder days, if the room is toasty warm. Or stay in the bed longer… who knows. It’s a toss up.
A smaller version of this, with more beautiful Jeffrey Court tile!
So without further ado, I’m sharing some of my faves for design in the bedroom!
I’ve loved pulling this all together design-wise and can’t wait to start.
• Colors –
Again with Sherwin William’s Egret White for the walls. We’ll be trimming it out with pure white. Check them out on our walls here.
The ceilings will be planked/shiplapped again finishing it off with SW Rainwashed. But it’s all in the details.
Cabinetry in this space will be… wait for it… Quietude. I’m so excited to have this beautiful color on some cabinets!
• Floors – If you remember from our last post we shared, we’ll be doing lighter hardwoods in this addition – for many reasons. We’ll be matching up the floors in the main living space and upstairs, later.
• Vent Covers – throughout, matching the rest of our home – we’re HUGE fans of Vent Covers Unlimited.
• Hardware – I love something like this from D.Lawless Hardware for a simple brass element.
• Blinds – continuing what we love throughout with select blinds – we love the natural element they add to the space. Again, see them in action here.
• Bed – Its my absolute fave. I couldn’t be more in love with it’s simple lines. I love that it draws the eye up, to work with our fun ceiling, but stays quiet as far as design.
• Sconces – You know we love Kichler Lights! We love these Ellerbeck sconces on each side of the fireplace over the bookshelves / dresser combo.
• Ceiling Fan – that’s right, we’re going for full on comfort. Kichler has so many great designs to choose from, we’re more than happy to hang a beautiful ceiling fan in our space.
• French Doors – I’ll be adding these to the bathroom entryway, with frosted glass. I ended up choosing the same for the laundry space {single} as well- also with frosted glass.
• Tile – of course we’re smitten by this tile from Jeffrey Court – the same chapter as in our pool room, so that it ties things in in a really fun, subtle way.
• Other elements – {not married to them yet but considering what we want} – nightstands / art sources – here + here – creating my own art, but showing this for inspiration sake / bedding / pillow / pillow / rug
___________
And that, our friends, wraps it up right now for our bedroom inspiration!
We’ve been taking care of all the important stuff, and working hard against deadlines and the holidays. It’s just a crazy time for our job right now. We plan to share more as we go, so stay tuned! THIS is the fun part. I don’t think we’ll know what to do with ourselves when we can finally move in…
Have an inspired day!
