Remember the beach house project intro from last week? We’re thrilled to share these fun little process photos with you, and today we’re discussing the living room and kitchen area!
{pssst: see the final project here!}
We’ve been working on this project with our clients this winter, and we’re thrilled to be able to photograph it in real life, this next month.
The living room and kitchen area are definitely the heart of this beach house. We love that we were able to give it a fresh look with new finds. {Some of the links below are affiliate links so that we can share fun ideas!}
Paint: we decided to lighten and brighten, by adding a soft white to the walls. SW Alabaster for the win.
Fan: of course we love Kichler + the look is super fun with a touch of modern flair for a beach house!
Furniture:
They actually brought some furniture from their home, and we supplemented from there. So I found some similar pieces for this board.
Sofa: they already own a collins sectional from la-z-boy, and he’s going to live here. We love the look.
Chairs: we love these wingbacks for lots of personality.
Coffee table: we love the look this adds for a little bit of rustic metallic accent.
Side table: stolen from our own house – we love these so much, and since they don’t have much room, thought they made an easy accent. Similar find here.
Entertainment center: Cheers to this bad boy. The wall for the TV needed some love, and this is the best area for some instant character. I don’t think I’ve seen a prettier one.
Accents:
Rug: We love it so much, we purchased it for our own home. And I didn’t even realize I did that. So fun in real life with all the colors.
Side Table: We love that fresh shot of aqua, here. + Lamp from here
Pillows: We never miss an opportunity for a good shot of color. 1/2/3
More accents: throw + plant and basket + art + art + frames + mirror + shell and floats {no, I couldn’t resist} + handmade piece
See the part where I caved and purchased one for our living room- hazard of the job…
For the kitchen, our clients were looking for simple solutions for some fun character when it came to their kitchen. It definitely needed some light and bright solutions.
The cherry cabinets and dark countertops were awesome, they just also weren’t really screaming “welcome to the beach”. This was communicating more of a “we’re kinda glad you’re here, we can’t really decide. Yay builders” vibe. So we totally get why they wanted to freshen it up.
It’s all about the paint: we’re asked frequently, what we recommend as far as a process for painting cabinets.
My answer? We don’t do it ourselves. If you take nothing else away from reading here, know this: HIRE A PROFESSIONAL. Someone who has an experienced team, who will spray it on with a professional finish. We have a whole post on this one coming up. Do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars. Wait and spend the money. You’ll thank me later.
So these cabinets got a refresher in Sherwin Williams Pure White. I’ve seen a sneak peek. Game changer. We also took an opportunity to play with those glass doors, and behind the white, you’ll find a peek of that waterscape blue. So perfect for all things beachy.
Tile: we loved pulling from our curated collection a-la Jeffrey Court! Their morning mist is one of my absolute favorites, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about the beautiful color it will bring into their backsplash.
Hardware: We love all options from D.Lawless! So many fun finds.
Countertops: A simple quartz in this just screams coastal cool.
Lights: These are so drool-worthy, we’re smitten. We love the sweet bright finish these awesome lights will bring to their bar space.
Accents: because it’s all about the little touches
We love these barstools + baskets for the upper areas of the cabinets {and more storage} + these glasses + faucet + towels + chalkboard
For the dining area, we came up with some fun solutions, as well.
Furniture:
Dining elements: They already had this great table {similar}, and we paired them with chairs that would hold up well under all the wear.
Shelving: these shelves will be perfect for under their windows, with a lot more storage when it comes to guests and entertaining.
Rug: We love the fun texture on this rug, and that it adds some color while hiding spills with its texture underfoot. Fringe always wins!
Light: from here -the perfect accent for the beach
Accents: Because we think the fun colorful elements always win.
bowls + blue plates + white plates + mugs + placemats + woven baskets + wire baskets + colorful baskets + candle holders + candles
art – a piece she already owned
We love the this family’s entire look is coming together in simple ways for their new beach house! Can’t wait to show you in real life. Have an inspired day!
