I think that this spring is all about hope. We’ve felt a little of that around here lately. It feels like we can focus on the happy things inside and out. We’re very glad to see some sunny days and warmer weather. So we were thrilled to share this fun little spring garland idea. It feels like a tiny celebration inside our homes.
This one is simple and unassuming, but colorful and fun.
It made the kids smile, and lately, that’s all that matters.
If you decide to make one of your own, here’s what you’ll need: {affiliate links below so we can keep sharing fun ideas with you and also, if I’m being honest, to support my crafting habit}
For the yarn portion:
• these adorable little bundles
• scissors
• piece of cardboard
This is a basic tassel.
It only takes a few easy steps, and you have an easy rainbow configuration.
1. Wrap yarn around the cardboard to desired thickness.
Note: I was able to get three tassels out of one little ball of yarn, so that should tell you when to stop wrapping. Remember, that once you move to step two it will be double the thickness.
2. + 3. Secure one side with another piece of yarn, so it doesn’t go anywhere when you snip the bottom.
4. Remove it from the cardboard, and tie about 1/5 of the way down.
Trim it up and make it neat! You’ll string these on one piece of twine across where ever you’re hanging.
For the second part of the garland, I used:
• acrylic disks for keychains – I believe these are 3.5 – 4 inches in diameter – they were just something I already had.
• acrylic paint and brushes
Remove one side of the protective film, and leave the other on until you’re finished painting just to preserve the acrylic.
From there, you can paint whatever to your hearts content! We went with these fun colorful flowers.
We just played with different designs until we were happy, and then strung them up as part of the garland.
We enjoyed creating some happy spring flowers with colorful designs to go with the fun tassels. They just had a fun colorful vibe.
And that’s how we made our little garland!
How are you spreading little bits of happy in your home during this time?
As always, let us know if you try it.
Have an inspired day!
