It’s the season for all things entertaining, and I love big statements at our gatherings, like fun drink charms.
From colorful glasses to big, full on, adorable glass savers, it’s all about easy festive fun.
Entertaining is our very favorite thing to do, so I thought that today, it would be fun to create and share how to make some super easy drink charms before your next revelry. This can work for any gathering, and you could even use these on white coffee mugs for a bit of fun, just put it around the handle. Because coffee. #sweetnectaroflife #namethatmovie
We even think these could double as some super adorable gift toppers.
Yes, we’re big into gift toppers {and handmade gifts} this year.
Drink charms- Here’s what you’ll need:
{affiliate links below.}
wood slices – we nabbed some pre-drilled ones here, because it’s one less step for you.
cardboard letters – any that measure around 1.25 in width should fit nicely on these particular wood slices.
– you can also print them out on card stock – I have a free alphabet that I mixed in with mine.
pencil + small paint brush + gold pen or gold leaf paint + white acrylic paint
faux leather tassels
we also used these tassels to mix it up
earrings – this will be your little clasp that holds it all together
Getting started
Bring out your wood slices, and depending on the letters you need, trace the letter onto the wood slice.
When it’s ready, give it a nice coat of paint.
It goes a little faster, if you do the drink charms in bulk.
When the white layer is dry, you can add gold stripes, or any accent that you like.
Note:
I do prefer the white {whatever color you choose} base because it works as a buffer between the gold paint and the wood. Because of the nature of some gold leafing paint, it tends to want to separate when it hits the wood. Thus the white base.
I added stripes, and then outlined each letter, too.
When they’re dry, they’re ready to go!
What charming little drink charms, if I do say so myself.
Add any color tassel to any hoop and string it through.
I know the fun colorful glasses technically defeats the purpose of the drink charms because you can probably keep up with those on your own, but I love a little fun embellishment here and there. And also, colorful glasses make for better photography, so there’s that.
These would also make adorable Christmas ornaments to hand out at the end of the night, too. Or start out with all of them on a tiny tree, and let them select their fave initial! I’m just full of ideas today.
The possibilities really are kind of endless and up to you.
As always, let us know if you try ou drink charms. We’d love to hear + see!
Have an inspired day!
Pssst: for another fun project with almost all the same materials, check out our wood slice keychain post here – such a fun gift idea!
Happy creating, y’all!
