If you guys follow some of our design client boards + spaces, you may remember our sweet clients, Matt + Olivia.
We were thrilled to put our heads together for a colorful family room, last August.

The two are definitely no strangers to pulling off some long distance designs… you may remember their bathroom reveal, here.

WHAT WHAT?! ::makes raise-the-roof motion with hands::
{Sorry, I’ll reel in the dork, now}

They’re working on their daughters’ shared bath – we can’t wait to see that one, as well!

And just a few weeks ago, we were thrilled to start on their master bedroom.

I think that a lot of people tend to save that master bedroom, for last. Or at least close to last. A getaway for yourself from the every day list of all the things can be kind of amazing.
They still have more spaces for us to tackle, and we were so glad to see this one next on the list. It can be so easy to put yourself last, and a real live sanctuary can make all the difference, really. It can even be romantical. At least organization and pretty curtains and fresh paint are definitely on my love language list. Fresh spaces are a girls best friend… not so much diamonds for me. Call me practical. ;}

Based on the floor plan and measurements they sent, everything here should fit nicely, and the layout should stay the same. As far as items, we tried to find things that really fit their style, and are highly functional as well.
So without further ado, a master bedroom with character! {As usual, I’m probably going out of order}…
8. Bed + Night Stands + Sconces
Bed – We love the simple, classic look of this bed. A queen size should fit nicely in this space beside the…
Two night stands – we adore a symmetrical look which should bring a ton of order to a smaller bedroom. They mentioned needing a place to store their books and we think this offers a clever solution while still looking stylish and clean. This offers a nice contrast with the bed, and plays well with its style.
Sconces – to maximize tabletop space, we love the idea of soft, swinging sconces on each side of the bed. This helps again, with the symmetry, and a modern touch. Brass plays off the handles on the night stands, while contrasting with the rustic look in the bed. It brings balance to the space without things leaning hard in one direction in terms of style. It also frees up those night stand tops for essentials.
9. Rug + Basket
We love the idea of placing a jute rug, for a fun texture under foot, and a way to bring balance with a natural element, as well. It will add warmth to the grey undertones. The 7’6 x 9 ‘6 should be a nice fit for their space. We’d place it as shown in the board {horizontally} while pulling it out a bit – about 1/3 out from underneath the bed so that there is still plenty of it to be seen in their space. That way, it’s not completely covered by the bed.

7. Clock
Because every bedroom needs a vintage/fun colorful clock for an accessory.

6. Paint Colors –
Because we’ve stayed with whites throughout in their rooms so far, we love the idea of painting their doors {and probably throughout the house} a nice soft grey to bring in a lot of character – and they could stick with the white we already chose for their bedroom walls to carry it through.
An alternative would be this blue for a little extra character. It has a lot of grey to it and is a historical color. A bedroom is always a great space for a little color. We always vote for color. ;}
5. Art
We love the idea of this
pretty art over their bed to bring in some of the warmer tones, and tie them together with a few of those pretty blues. This artist is fantastic – She has a lot of very pretty works to choose from.
4. Chandelier
This choice in lighting is something to add a little umph to their space, without dominating the ceiling. We also like the fact that in a smaller space, they can see through it to their art on the wall.
3. Chest + Mirror
We love this navy chest. It should fit nicely where their old one is now, and pair beautifully with this really fun mirror for some awesome character.
1. Bedding + 2. Curtains
We would take these curtains as high as we can on the ceiling to elongate the space.
Bedding –
We love that they already have something that they adore on their bed. So we decided to play with it a bit and kick it up a notch for those shots of color that they love, and prefer in their home.
We contrasted it with this quilt, and think it would look great folded at the foot of the bed. It brings in a contrasting and simple pattern.
Tied together with two of these pillows in front of your existing shams
And one of these to tie it all together centered on their bed.

Please note, out of respect for our paying clients we can no longer share all of our sources here, with the exception of an independent artist or small business {because we love supporting small businesses!} Or something from our own site. To share all the sources here, would be unfair to our clients who have paid for these services. We do share all of our own sources for our own home, along with any additional sources that we possibly can. That adds up to a lot of sources.
We share the boards here with the permission of the client, because we do hope this still inspires our readers to create from your own ideas, and to discuss the space along with our design services. So thank you in advance for your understanding.
If you’re interested in design solutions and sources for your very own space, we’re more than happy to help. Read more about our

Wow I love your room. I wish Our master bedroom was large. And I wish we had an ensuite too. I really have nothing to play with so to speak. I’m stuck with what I’ve got
We need links to all the products you’ve numbered! 🙂 Where can I get the nightstands, chandelier and that colorful bolster pillow?
Hello Ashley, Wow! I love your decoration, collection and nightstand. This is really an awesome blog. Thank you for such a nice blog.
