I realized the other day that I have a go-to for a lot of kids’ spaces that we do. It just makes sense. What is that go-to? Bulletin boards. They really make the best addition to kids’ spaces. It’s the smartest thing you can add to any room when it comes to something that needs to work hard for you. Maybe a more refined term would be pinboards. Whatever you call them, they work wonderfully for a kiddo’s space.
In our Daughter’s room, we added her spot because I knew how much she loves collecting everything. It also looks pretty fun with the curio cabinet she had in her nursery as a baby.
Trust me, now that I’ve taken that initial photo, the collection of photos, notes, stickers, and more has grown. As it should. {Said curio cabinet is now overflowing with YA novels + sunglasses.} But it keeps things off the floor and displayed in a pretty way. We had fun selecting art, photos, and more, and she’s had a blast adding to it over time. I also love the way these brought symmetry to her wall.
We found these boards here. {similar here – but shop around to see what you can find for your space!}
I just love this view into the hallway and our oldest’s space.
It did a lot to warm up these walls.
And for my youngest’s space he wanted the same. He’s slowly been adding to it as well, and in his room, we went with a larger piece.
Again, check out this source here – we went for a simple large square for his room to add all the things.
In this kids’ study area, it just made sense to add bulletin boards as an accent for all the things.
This before + after gets me every time. We loved creating space for their family in a useful way. This one was a simple target find.
In this tween girl’s room, the little bulletin board greatly impacted a little desk space. We love the way it sits oh so simply over her desk for easy access.
And in this room, we added a board as well.
Her father made this little mantel on the other side of her room, and we added a board to the underneath side. She can collect art, photos and more!
It gives them space to have that fun clutter we all loved as teens and tweens and in childhood… but keeps it off those surfaces. It’s just a smart way for kids to continually add their own character.
I do adore them for common spaces, too. In our old house, I used them in the kitchen to display photos + our childrens’ art. Check out the post to see how we made it from cork slices. I still miss this area in our old home.
So these are some of my go-to ways to display our favorite things and contain clutter, too! Do you use bulletin boards in your house? We’d love to hear your faves.
Have an inspired day!
